Gay Marriages…Why the Hell Not?
Post #1I frankly don’t understand what the big deal is. If two people truly love each other then nothing should stop them from getting married whether they are straight or gay. It astounds me how many people in this day and age, in a time where things are constantly changing, to be opposed to gay marriages. I guess in some sense I understand where all those Christians are coming from. In fact, I believe in God myself, but that doesn’t stop me from believing that all people, no matter who they are, deserve rights and deserve to be respected. Yes, it is true that the bible condemns homosexuality, but the bible was written a really long time ago, in a time when even women did not have rights themselves, and look at where we are now. If God is against homosexuality then why does He create homosexuals? Being gay is not a choice, those who are, are born that way. Gay men and women are not asking all you straight folks who are against homosexuality to be gay with them, so why is it your concern? Why can’t love just be love?
don't really have one
Post #41i haven't really read the before comments. So this may feel very random..
but there's a certain belief in me that God didn't make women like women and men like men. I'm a pretty unstable christian, but God knows all, he created everything to be perfect if things are how they are supposed to be. the bible was made a really long time ago, but it was written by God thru Man. His words has stood firm throughout time.
Yet we do see strong christian men and women that stay single throughout. And happy gay couples.
The idea of homosexuality just can't be as simple and pure as a man and woman's love. It stays a taboo in society, not so much of it being a minority (though maybe not for the longest time), but because it feels 'prohibited' and rated negatively in some way, like how NC16 or R21 works.
haha. sorry for adding confusion to this already very difficult debate.

Re: Gay Marriages…Why the Hell Not?
Post #42But opening up same-sex marriage will contribute to the tax and insurance burden.
--Huh? The rights of people should never be predicated on the impact it may cause to taxes and insurance.
A gay person in America already has constitutional protection equal with everyone else.
--Good then, now they can get married like everyone else?
Then suddenly they started seeking special protections and state amendments. When I lived in Colorado an amendment that had a public vote was voted down against special rights.
--By special rights, are you meaning hate crime legislation?
However, an activist judge ruled the vote was not legal because gays cannot be discriminated that way.
--Another activist judge? I find this reference disingenuous, if he would have ruled against the constitution, would he still be an activist judge?

Post #43we are already on this ice with lots of foreign countries. I have nothing against homosexuals but if we legalized gay marriage i don't see how that can help us with our foreign relations
--The rights of people should only have bearing on foreign relations when those rights are being trampled.
