Paradise on Earth

Post by onewithhim »

When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?

If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.

We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.

Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

[Replying to post 262 by onewithhim] Would God grant you
perfection in thought and action through the Spirit if you asked him?

I believe that he would grant me the measure of perfection that is possible in this system of things (in which all humans are imperfect). We will all be granted complete perfection during Christ's Millennial Reign.

You have a choice... obey me or else. ( and the "or else" part might be nasty, just sayin' )

No. They could've stopped their hard-headedness and started obeying Him and cleared out the pagan gods from their midst and started treating each other with love. But they chose not to do that.
When it comes to the god of the bible, it's all about obeying.

Do it or else.

Why would God not want you to be perfectly obedient to him? He demanded perfection from the Jews.

[Replying to post 260 by onewithhim] The text clearly states that God himself would intervene on behalf of his chosen people to ensure their compliance to his standards. He indicates that through the Holy Spirit they would be made perfect. Why didn't he do so?
