When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

Well, I am pretty sure that is up for debate. For example the Bible says, So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Sonof Man, you have no life in you. . . . For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.JWs follow what Jesus taught, to the letter.
JW’s do not actually believe/accept this teaching of Jesus.
It might be an idea to ask a [Jehovah's Witness or consult our official website www.jw.org if you are not an authority our beliefs; in any case JWs both believe and accept the teaching as expressed in the quotation above

I don't think that Jehovah'sWitness meant that we believe that we are actually drinking Jesus' blood or eating his actual flesh, because we, as a world-wide organization, believe that the bread and wine are SYMBOLS of his body and blood, and partaking of them simply means that we accept what he did when he gave up his life for us.TSGracchus wrote:One more cannibalistic cult asserts itself!JehovahsWitness wrote:Emphasis MINERightReason wrote: [Replying to onewithhim]

It is RightReason's organization that teaches that the bread and wine turn into actual flesh and blood, something that Jesus and his Father would abhor.

I see. Your Christian sect simply pretends to do something that Jesus and his Father would abhor. How exactly is that better?onewithhim wrote:I don't think that Jehovah'sWitness meant that we believe that we are actually drinking Jesus' blood or eating his actual flesh, because we, as a world-wide organization, believe that the bread and wine are SYMBOLS of his body and blood, and partaking of them simply means that we accept what he did when he gave up his life for us.TSGracchus wrote:One more cannibalistic cult asserts itself!JehovahsWitness wrote:Emphasis MINERightReason wrote: [Replying to onewithhim]

He didn't even hint at symbolism. But it certainly isn't uncommon for his "followers" (At a safe distance to be sure!) to dismiss what Jesus plainly said as "symbolic". A "true Christian" seems to be someone who shouts, "JESUS IS LORD!", while ignoring what he said or dismissing it as metaphor. As a teacher he can be inconvenient.

Transubstantiation is an invention of man. Mark reinforces the symbolism , maybe a little clearer than John. Mark 14:22-25
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it , and gave it to them and said, "Take, this is my body".
The He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
And He said to them, "This My blood of the covenant, which is shed for many. "Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

We don't pretend to drink blood or eat flesh. The whole thing about Jesus saying that his disciples would eat his flesh, etc., was the fact that he was speaking SYMBOLICALLY about his flesh and blood. To "eat" his flesh would simply mean that a person was taking the sacrifice of his flesh seriously, and the person would act in accordance with his acceptance of what Jesus did by sacrificing himself for mankind. The person would follow Jesus' teachings and do his/her best to imitate him. That is all it means to "eat" his flesh or "drink" his blood.Tcg wrote:I see. I agree that many (if not MOST) "followers" of Jesus ignore most of what he said. In fact, may I be so bold as to say that the ones who insist that he meant to literally eat his flesh and drink his blood are the ones who ignore just about everything else he taught.TSGracchus wrote: [Replying to post 991 by onewithhim]

Jesus is not an "inconvenient" teacher. I, and my spiritual brothers and sisters, try our best to follow everything he said. He would never have meant for people to literally eat his body, for, as you said, he and his Father abhor the idea.

TSGracchus, Your response would be welcomed. It is a beautiful day to think positive things. Let's think about the beauty that lies ahead for people on this planet.onewithhim wrote:I agree that many (if not MOST) "followers" of Jesus ignore most of what he said. For most alive now, what lies ahead is horror, pain, plague, famine, and war. A remnant may ... may ... survive and their descendants may come to see beauty in the desolation. Perhaps the species will survive, if it can learn lessons from our greed, hubris, and the unquenchable thirst for control. Our fate as a species is in our own hands. We seem to be bent on self-destruction.
But, perhaps there will be pie in the sky by-and-by when we die.
