It seems to me, that new members rarely post a introduction thread anymore. As such I am making this thread as a way that new members can say hi, and get to know a couple of people on the forums.
So to all the new members:
First of all, hello!
Second, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?
“People generally quarrel because they cannot argue. - G.K. Chesterton
“A detective story generally describes six living men discussing how it is that a man is dead. A modern philosophic story generally describes six dead men discussing how any man can possibly be alive. - G.K. Chesterton
Lol thanks but I think I figured it out, it was a tiny oval thing. And my phone's all I got no money for laptop right at the moment. Anyway how are you? Name's Tyler
Hello,
I've been a regular at message boards since before 2000. My main interests are Politics, religion/philosophy, and movies--the latter particularly as they relate to the first two. I guess you could call me the loyal opposition, since I'm not a Christian and haven't been since college even though my wife and our families stayed Christian, especially my brother's family who are evangelicals. It isn't that I don't feel strongly about religious issues, I do and they have been important to me since I was a small child. These boards are the closest thing to church for people like me since polite company is about the only place one can discuss religion and politics any more instead of family.
I believe everyone should be an agnostic since I've come to the conclusion that there is no evidence whatsoever about the existence of God pro or con--by design, and that anonymity is the single reason for creating the cosmos in order to provide God's gift to us, moral free will. I could go on an on about what I believe but it all boils down to one simple statement: God is Truth. If we pursue the Truth, there we will find God, whatever that is. In order to remind myself not to anthropomorphize or personalize God, I use the capitalized pronoun "It" rather than "He" or "She". I've recently come to the conclusion that if there is a Hereafter, we survive without gender as well.
I look forward to meeting others here and discussing these and other subjects, including why I feel all this is so important.
Hello, I am a wife, mother and granny to five grandchildren.
I thought I would have a look at this forum and see if it suits me. I have posted on forums of this nature since the late 90s.
I am an agnostic having been a 'born again' Christian as a young person. I lost my faith at 19 when the doubts became too overwhelming to ignore. Now aged 64 I have not missed having a faith. I have no problem with mainstream live and let live Christians who don't seek to proselytise. I have a BIG problem with those espousing the 'born again' you must be 'saved', or else dogma, which spoilt my childhood. Being threatened with being burned in the fires of hell doesn't exactly make one a happy bunny! I will challenge that unpleasant dogma whenever I come across it, as I know children are still being abused in that fashion!

Can we assume from your choice of screen name that you are a disciple or at least an admirer of Thomas Paine (the English-American political activist, philosopher, author, political theorist and revolutionary not the colonial American privateer ).
Have you considered ignosticism as opposed to what sounds to me like agnostic deism?
