It seems to me, that new members rarely post a introduction thread anymore. As such I am making this thread as a way that new members can say hi, and get to know a couple of people on the forums.

So to all the new members:

First of all, hello!

Second, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?

“A detective story generally describes six living men discussing how it is that a man is dead. A modern philosophic story generally describes six dead men discussing how any man can possibly be alive.

Welcome Zelduck

I'm glad you have questions. I get tired of the newcomers who have only answers not questions. ;)

Division

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables.

Really new here.. need help

I hope here is where I'm suppose to say a little about myself.
First of all, my Bible is King James: the same as more than half of Christians. Second, I am a devote believer in God, Jesus and (because there is no other word) a Christian. Third, my brother is who drew my interest to the New Testament in 1989 by telling me something I never heard before: but, I'm from Missouri.. I have to see it with my own eyes. Fourth, I am not a member of any Christian or other religious organization of any kind.
I would also like to say, no mainstream Christian before would have a lengthy conversation with me about scripture. Not because I insisted on them believing what I believe, but because when I showed them, they could not dispute they had a drastic misunderstanding on a topic or more from the Bible. After seeing it was the truth, rather than accept it for what is written, they chose to politely end the conversation and never came back again.
My hopes are to find others not happy with what mainstream Christianity wants and tells people to believe. In NO WAY will I tell people what to believe. I only hope to guide them to the one and only truth.
Christians are widely divided in their teachings and beliefs. The wide variety of Christian Bibles, like Christians. do not agree with the other. This and my Dads passing in 1978, is why I threw it all away. (1 Corinthians 1:10.. Acts 20:29-31.. 2 Timothy 4:3-4)

I hope someone is kind enough to help me get started here.

Just got here

Hello,

what led me to your forum was a desire to discuss a film I saw over the weekend. At IMdB (the people are pretty good on most films) I tried to discuss a religious film and the God haters (as opposed to real atheists) were out in force. I googled for a religious forum and landed on yours.
I am neither Christian nor religious, but feel that Religion is Man's conveyance to God. In a Liberal crowd, I come across as conservative and as a Liberal while engaging Conservatives. If that makes me a moderate, then so be it. A friend of mine joined Wicca and does not seem the worse for wear. And while I am a convert to a religion, it is not something I recommend.
Not being learned (a not-so-impressive high school education) nor well-written, I will be doing more listening and very little talking.

thank you,

JKHolman

Hello to all,

Please forgive any mistakes I make as I can just about turn a computer on, let alone work out what it does!
I live in the UK and retired last year. I live in the countryside and love nature and all it's wonders.
The thing that attracted me to this site is the diversity of all the different beliefs. I have always held the opinion that everyone is entitled to believe in whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

I am going through some soul searching at the moment (hence the name) and this forum seems a good place to read many views on different subjects.

I do love discussions on a range of topics as I see this as an education to understand so many paths in life. Perhaps we don't have to stick with one through life.

I have a range of beliefs, a bit of this, a bit of that. Maybe that is the confusion or maybe it is what is going on in my life at the moment, who knows.

I don't dwell, it's not in my nature. I try to see the positive in things but it's hard sometimes. I am usually a bubbly person, a bit on the scatty side and will grow older disgracefully.

I heard someone say the other day, "It's not the time you have left in your life, it's the life you have left in your time". So true.

Thank you for listening and I'm sure I will enjoy discussing and debating with you all.
