Does evolution go against the bible? If we assume for one moment that evolution is true does it really impact the christian worldview?
question for debate:
Assuming evolution is true does it conflict with christianity?

Y'know what I have discovered about this thread and this poll?
That the only people who think that evolution conflicts with Christianity are atheists.
The lone Christian to vote said that it does not conflict.
Doesn't that make anybody here think a minute? I mean, wouldn't the Christian know whether evolution conflicts with Christianity?
Why would a bunch of atheists have the authority to decide whether evolution conflicts with Christianity?
True, there are some fundamentalists who have a problem with evolution; young earth creationists tend to be vocal. However, they comprise a fairly small, if loud, subset of Christianity.
As well....if even one Christian can believe in evolution AND his Christian faith, then it cannot be said that evolution conflicts with Christianity. The most that can be said is that some Christian systems conflict with evolution.
As for me,
1. I'm a Christian.
2. I say it doesn't conflict.
3. Ergo...it doesn't conflict with Christianity.
.....................just some forms of it, and as it turns out, a minority view of it.

You only speak for your system of Christianity. I think an accurate statement could be to a literal interpretation it presents certain conflicts to a non literal interpretation it might by have said conflicts.
Your also forgetting that we can all observe or view a system and make judgments about said system regardless if we are involved in a system.
I could still retain the position that your system still presents conflicts with evolution regardless if you believe that or not.
So how you or I view something does not invalidate the opinion of another when discussing individual opinions

I totally agree with you, and I addressed that same concern in my previous point.dianaiad wrote: Y'know what I have discovered about this thread and this poll?

Evolution (and science as a whole) contradicts with Christianity, only if you're the type of Christian who takes the Bible literally.
If you think of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, the Great Flood, the Virgin Birth, the Resurrection etc, as really interesting fiction written for the purpose of inspiring readers, and think that Adam and Eve never ACTUALLY existed, and Jesus never ACTUALLY raised from the dead, then evolution is not a problem, and nor is science as a whole.
The theory of Gravity is only problematic to those Christians who believe that Jesus ACTUALLY walked on water, and the theory of Evolution is only problematic to those Christians who believe Eve ACTUALLY was created from Adam's rib.
If you don't take the creation myths, the flood myths, the miracles, the virgin births, etc seriously, then of course you will have no problem with modern science.
