Did Jesus ever call himself Son of God, or Son of David?

Considering the fact that Solomon is the only person in scripture who was both the son of David and the son of God, why would both Ezekiel and Jesus refer to themselves as son of man?

So what is the point behind the people calling Jesus the son of David? I would think that "son of God" is a great enough accolade that no reference to David would be necessary. If anything, calling Jesus "the son of David", as well as calling him "the son of God", tends to raise David to the level of God, or reduce God to the level of David.
Was it disrespectful to God, to call Jesus the son of David?
Well there must have BEEN a point (or else Jesus presumably would not have spoken). That point must be somewhere in the words Jesus said which I quoted above. The point couldn't have just been about which is the highest title but as I said, he must have been trying to explain something about the messiahs role in relation to David. Those that speak about King David are usually aware of what is often referred to as the "davidic covenant".

If one decides Jesus was just making mouth noise for no apparent reason there's nothing more to look for, he was speaking but it meant nothing, if not, evidently there must be some dots he was trying to connect for people (David/davidic covenant - Messiah - position/role). If you could explain what each of those terms really mean (not just er... messiah, someone sent by God..er davidic covenant "no idea something to do with kings" and role dunno "tell everyone to love each other... " ) then you could probably connect the dots yourself.

Logic,

Gospel Matthews says that Jesus referred to himself he was the son of God.

Matt.27
[43] He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

Gospel John says that Jesus referred to himself as the Son of God.

John5:
[23] That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
[25] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

When asked specifically if he was the son of God, Jesus would not deny it.

Luke.22
[70] Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.

But what exactly does the term "Son of God" mean? In Judaeo/Christian belief all men are the sons of God, created in God's image.

Wisdom of Solomon 2:
[18] For if the just man be the son of God, he will help him, and deliver him from the hand of his enemies.

Did Jesus refer to himself as the Son of David?

Mark.12:
[35] And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?
[36] For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
[37] David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
Image "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this." -- Albert Einstein -- Written in 1954 to Jewish philosopher Erik Gutkind.

There is a very clear and logical explanation, but it is contrary to church doctrine. That is why I say that it's lack of mention at Seminary smacks of a coverup.
You have to understand the things the church does not tell you, in order to see the coverup:-)
I personally have read the Bible and I think it is perfect book. And the idea that Solomon is son of God is interesting, but in no way a problem for person who believes what the Bible tells. But I understand it can be a problem for some “Christians as it is also for some Jews that think God can’t have a son.
