Many Christians appear to be upset because I and others do not share their belief in things supernatural. Some become angry when we refuse to believe their literature, dogma and preachings. Many threaten us with "eternal damnation" if we reject their gods.
Can anyone give a coherent answer to:
Why does my disbelief bother Christians?

Non-Theist
ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

Hey now, lets not be typical theists here and try to read what one thing says as saying ten other things.MikeH wrote:Yes, how dare you question the fundamental, unchanging principles of strict naturalism. You obviously need to watch more Carl Sagan videos on YouTube.PC1 wrote:Oh, thats right. Atheists are right about everything and if I disagree, it is me who must be wrong. Not just wrong, but also stupid and an idiot who isn't capable of seeing their belief because my stupidity.

Post #32Lets see, the selfish reason would be because scripture teaches it is better to save one non-believer than teach 1,000 believers.Zzyzx wrote:.

The personal humanistic reason would be because I wouldn't wish the fate of condemnation on my worst enemy.
The generic answer: It doesn't. You know the words of scripture, you opt to not accept them. That is your choice. Why should it bother me?
Its all just one big puzzle.
Find out where you fit in.

I'm not! But if you think someone's going to get into trouble you try to stop them don't you? If I do that for a sibling they understand that as because I love them. What happens to you is not my business unless you want it to be.
If I was bored when I was young I may have picked an argument with my Mum, Dad or teacher. Maybe that is the problem.
That can't possibly be totally isolated to Christians though, I think.

Post #34Not all Christians believe in the more supernatural parts of the Bible. Not all believe in a hell.Zzyzx wrote:.

I don't think your answer has anything to do with religion in the sense of your post.
I think that we are all born with a will and desire to make friends and influence people. Be it a religious argument or a sports debate, the basis need is to get the other to agree with our position.
In this way the need to have our friendship circle and our influence grow is met.
