One of the key beliefs of Christianity that sets it apart from all other religions is that Jesus rose from the dead. No other religious founder has risen from the dead.
The Bible is clear that Jesus rose from the dead. But, are there any other evidence that Jesus was resurrected from the dead?
Are there any evidence that Jesus rose from the dead?

According to Paul there were 500 witnesses (not just disciples):Nick Hallandale wrote:So how come after the supposed resurrection of Jesus, the only people that he showed himself to were his own disciples?
Why didn't he show himself to the people of the ""evil and adulterous generation ""?
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
What's up, Nick? That sounds like you have a religion of your own to sell.Nick wrote:I think that this is actually a failed prophecy by a false prophet.

Perhaps seeing someone rise from the dead has a way of making you a Christian.Nick Hallandale wrote:Read it again....... Paul says that Jesus appeared to more than 500 BROTHERS I'm not selling anything...I'm just a truth seeker.

So, is there a biblical reason why Christians have stopped raising the dead?harvey1 wrote:Perhaps seeing someone rise from the dead has a way of making you a Christian.

Who's lying about the 380+ ???
Just to review an important point, lets look at 1Corinthians 15:6
"""After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;
Please notice that Paul says that after Jesus was resurrected he """appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time,"""
HE APPEARED TO MORE THAN 500 BRETHREN AT ONE TIME
In other words, the 500 brethren must have all been together.
But now start reading at the beginning of the book of Acts.
At Acts 1:2-3 it says that Jesus appeared to his Apostles for 40 days after his resurrection until he went to heaven.
During the next 10 days until pentecost they all met in the upper room.
Acts 1:14-15
14These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
15And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
Do you notice what it says?
Before pentecost there were ONLY 120 disciples.
Paul says 500 and Peter says 120.
Who's lying about the other 380+ ???

Re: Who's lying about the 380+ ???
Post #37Oh Nick. Acts of the apostles was written many years later and the accuracy of which is not fully known. In addition, Paul's stating 500 people doesn't necessarily imply that was the only sighting of the risen Lord. It could have been lesser numbers at other times.Nick Hallandale wrote:Who's lying about the other 380+ ???
Any hoot, it seems you have an axe to grind against Christianity...

I was just asking why Christians don't continue to do this. It would be a remarkably strong witness.Matthew chapter 10 wrote:Jesus sent these twelve out, and commanded them, saying, "Don't go among the Gentiles, and don't enter into any city of the Samaritans. Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons.

Indeed. Christians are doing this by raising the symbolic dead (i.e., spiritually dead) and having new lives in Christ. However, I thought you were talking about raising the literal dead.McCulloch wrote:I was just asking why Christians don't continue to do this. It would be a remarkably strong witness.

Sorry, did I misread Matthew? I thought that he was talking about literal sickness, literal lepers, literal demons and literal dead. Are you asserting that Jesus' instructions as recorded in Matthew 10 are figurative?
