Lets assume there actually is a God gene: http://www.entheogens.com/godgene.html
and a Gay gene: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/100/105486.htm
I don't want to get bogged down in the specifics of the research because there are only a few people in this forum I would trust to debate it coherently. Instead, let us assume both these genes exist. (Please try, even if you don't trust the science)
If these genes were proven to exist, would it change your view of Christians, Gays, Gay Christians, Atheists or Gay Atheists?
Why?
Note: Genetic predisposition does not always guarantee a certain outcome, it only increases the likelihood. I am hoping this does not fall too far into a discussion of free will.....I want to know more about why YOU would or would not change your view of either group.

Tell me do you have another reason we shouldn't eat and kill our offspring or eating our dead relatives besides God doesn't like it and he said it was bad?Easyrider wrote:
If "homosexual" acts among animals are in accordance with acceptable animal (and thus also human) nature, then animals killing their offspring and devouring other species like their own are also in accordance with acceptable animal / human nature, and should also be endorsed by humans.
Love that little self-serving platitude, "crime against nature." How about a sin against God? Fact is that museum and its politically correct staff will one day be long gone, but the Word of God will go on and on....
Besides being a sin against God can you come up with another reason not to kill and eat our young?
It that what stops you?

Whatever you say, big guy. I was just putting the lie to your earlier idea that gay "relations" are unnatural. Obviously they are not, unless you think that the whales, and flamingos and whatnot have made a "gay sex is a deliberate, conscious decision"!Easyrider wrote:If "homosexual" acts among animals are in accordance with acceptable animal (and thus also human) nature, then animals killing their offspring and devouring other species like their own are also in accordance with acceptable animal / human nature, and should also be endorsed by humans.
As for your opinions about what is or is not "acceptable' animal behavior, who cares? The animals don't.

So there's God, creating man and woman specifically designed to mate and populate the earth, and say, 100 years later, he looks down and sees two men going at it. I can just hear him now: "No, no, no..... they're not really doing that, are they? Good grief..." LOL!Lotan wrote: Whatever you say, big guy. Where did God give moral laws to animals at Mt. Sinai, etc.?Lotan wrote: As for your opinions about what is or is not "acceptable' animal behavior, who cares? The animals don't.

You are changing the subject, as Lotan has already pointed out.Easyrider wrote: If "homosexual" acts among animals are in accordance with acceptable animal (and thus also human) nature, then animals killing their offspring and devouring other species like their own are also in accordance with acceptable animal / human nature, and should also be endorsed by humans.
Clearly, homosexuality is natural, just like left-handedness, albinoism, or double-jointed thumbs.
Also, by assuming that if we use animals as a guide for morality with respect to homosexuality we must also use them as a guide for other moral laws, you are committing a fallacy. Using this fallacious logic, Christians would have to follow all the OT Jewish laws simply because they choose to follow one, say the one against murder. Clearly this is ridiculous.
Whether homosexuality is or should be considered moral is a separate question. However, clearly things that are "unnatural" or "abnormal" are not necessarily immoral.
Again, since this thread assumes there is a gay gene, we are accepting that homosexuality is natural. I invite you to participate in a debate of whether it is always sinful or not here. If you prefere to alter the assumptions in that thread, I am more than happy to start another one with an alternate set of assumptions.

By the way,it seems to me that if He didn't want this to happen, he shouldn't have created people or animals with homosexual tendencies in the first place.
