Why are Christians ashamed of Jesus?

Post by Avoice »

It is sad that Christians are ashamed of Jesus.

For centuries they have been drawing him like a European. With blue eyes and sandy blond (light brown) hair.

He was from the Middle East. They know what men from the Middle East look like. Black hair and brown eyes. And darker skin.

If they must have an image why don't they draw him in truth? They don't.
Christians find their false image of Jesus comforting. Looking at it with such admiration. What if he looked like Sadaam Hussein? And wore jeans and a tshirt?

How will Christians recognize Jesus? By wearing a white robe with arms outstretched? Looking like the guy in the Last Supper painting?

Sorry if I have been unclear. I think the Shroud of Turin doesn't necessary show long hair. And I think it is possible that it is not even an image of Jesus. Also, I don't claim Jesus had long hair. I just think it could have been possible.
I retract my claim and apologize.
You have no idea if Jesus had long hair or not and you do not hold to the belief that the Shroud of Turin is legit.

(According to the Bible though, it is not possible that Jesus had long hair, again.... due to Biblical claims about men having long hair and what that means).

I think it's just human to do this. And I don't think it's intentional. For the longest time when I was young I thought Buddha was Asian since every depiction of him I'd ever seen looked Asian.

To prove I'm not having some kind of racist Mandela effect, here is how The Simpsons draw Buddha. Note the almond-shaped eyes, where non-Asian characters are drawn with round eyes.

This is NOT how they draw Apu, who is from India.

Jesus is described as having a ruddy complexion..aka the ability to blush.

There were no black people until Canaan sinned and got cursed by GOD.

Black people still carry that curse as is proven by the fact the poorest nations are black and blacks have never invented or discovered anything but the icecream scoop - to their detriment!

This is the old "blood in the face" line. It assumes that the name Adam means red ("adom" אָדוֹם). Since Genesis 1 states that Adam was made from the dust of the ground, it's more likely that the name is from adama (אֲדָמָה), meaning "earth".

Are you going to tell us that Saxon comes from "Isaac's son" as well?

That just proves that they have a history of being exploited by surrounding empires.

That they never invented ships and cannons for use in colonial slave trading is hardly a stroke against them.

What we have actually learned is that ancient humans were in fact darker skinned and lighter skin was a later adaption.

In tropical climates, enough UV penetrates even dark skin to provide an adequate dose of vitamin D. However, as our forebears began to migrate, wandering far from the equatorial sun, not enough UV could make its way through the protective melanin. At higher latitudes, particularly in winter, vitamin D levels dropped, to the point where health was compromised. Dark skin became a disadvantage. The evolutionary response, Jablonski says, was a loss of pigmentation. Individuals with less melanin in their skin had a better chance of surviving where there was not as
much sunlight available.

In the late 1990s, Jablonski and Chaplin found support for this idea in a set of NASA satellite data, which provided a precise record of surface-level UV radiation at every point on the globe. When they compared these data with geographical records of skin color variation, they found an overwhelming degree of correlation. Skin color was darkest where surface UV was strongest, the overlay clearly showed, and lightest where surface UV was weak.

After ten years of digging, the two had arrived at what amounts to the first comprehensive theory of human skin color. What Jablonski calls “this beautiful sepia rainbow” evolved as a response to human migration, local UV regimes, and the body’s need for vitamin D.

Since dark skin came first, this claims is demonstrated to be incorrect (and hateful IMO).

Please supply the points you feel are relevant for us to examine like I did for you above.

No it means that Jesus had a pale skin as did Adam and Eve because: BEFORE THE FLOOD THERE WAS NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT SO A PALE SKIN WOULD BE IDEAl.

Yes. I'm glad you know that.

Your problems with the Bible probably stem from your condition:

Oh dear...ignorance is truly bliss to the athetosufferer.

The Hebrew name Isaac means "laughter". Saxon is from the Old English seax, which was a type of knife used by Germanic warriors and has nothing to do with Isaac.

Your need to resort to childish insults probably stems from an inability to recognize your lack of knowledge on the subject you address.

I wasn't denying the universal nature of slavery; I was pointing out that enslavement=inferiority is an illogical conclusion.

Dark skin=inferiority is also illogical. It wasn't Irishmen who built the pyramids.

The pyramid builders may have been quite pale skinned as the pyramids obviously date from pre-flood times along with all the other megalithics around the world..

You are justifying Jesus's skin color based on the religious stories of Adam and Eve and a global flood?
Muhammed flew on a winged horse, for the very same reason. Surely you see why you are no different than the Muslims here. To be honest, I doubt your pride will allow you to recognize this, but the readers will.

Black people still carry that curse as is proven by the fact the poorest nations are black.
You insert a curse that is not really there best we can tell. You shouldn't level curses at entire groups of people, especially because of the color of their skin. Logic tells us that there must be a poorest nation. Logic does not tell us that, that nation must be black because of some curse you believe is in your religious holy book, therefore your reasoning fails.

I acknowledge that these are beliefs that you hold. Perhaps some day you will be set free from from them so you can be more Christlike.
