Magic and god

Post by connermt »

Blaine.
Angel.
Cooperfield.
Magicians. They do 'tricks' that stun and amaze many people.
God/jesus did the same type of things.
So are they nothing more than magicians?
Let's compare:
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = human
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = doing actions that surprise and impress certain (though not all) viewers
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = men
Let's contrast:
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield = alive jesus = dead
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield = verifiable in the real world jesus = unverifiable

It sure seems god can be called nothing more than a magician. Is that true, or is it something else?
How do we know this?

There is nothing more to say since the last time you visited Nigeria was more than 20 years ago thereby making your arguement opinion based.
Evolution: A perfect sci-fi story backed up by a science circle of ignoring that which it can't explain.

First of prove that there was any hat like that in the time of Jesus?
When was the last time you visited Nigeria?
Just because you don't want to see it doesn't mean it's not there.
I have never been to Nigeria and I have no intention of going there in the near future. People in that country are generally very gullible and superstitious as they still believe in magic and other nonsense. My father taught to me to associate myself with people I can learn from.

Oh yes, I thought Jesus turned water into wine and walked on water. The fact that I can do the same thing doesn't make me a prophet or a son of god
There are parts in the bible that I don't understand.....that doesn't concern me. It is the parts I do understand that worries me.

The fact you don't want to go and see to believe is good. Thou will not believe what thou hast not seen. So i don't blame you for being "understitious".
The fact that you can turn water into wine and walk on water proves one thing, you are an illusionist. If you want to prove anything, kill yourself with a real knife, get buried and rise after 3 days. When you do that, then we'll talk.

I fixed the first line for you by replacing just one word with another.....tell me how different this is to anything I have said.

For the millionth time, I don't believe in the miracles of the bible or anything else in there so I won't be killing myself anytime soon. I enjoy life far too much to be an idiot.

So it's clearly your opinion. Whenever you do muster up some courage to go see for yourself, do tell me.

I give up. I was right all along....debating you is useless. It is okay for Jesus, a mortal man, to do those things and it is a miracle but when someone else replicates it, it is an illusion. That, my friend, is exactly the point, whether I do it, Derren Brown does it or Jesus does, it is the same thing....an illusion. You even make me equate things to someone (Jesus) for whom there is no tangible evidence. I almost believed for a second that he really existed.

It is useless debating you. According to you, He was an illusionists and i've asked you to do His greatest trick and you're mumbling irrelevant reasons as to why. Do it or don't talk about it.
