6000 years of history

Post by RonE »

6000 years of recorded history, it seems to me that if there were gods (or God), by now we would all know. Science has found no place for god in any hypothesis explaining the laws of nature.

We are presented with two alternatives, either there are no gods or they are hiding, playing tricks on us trying to test us, but really why would such powerful beings need or want to do that. Occam’s razor points us to the obvious answer, simple… no one is there.

Let’s move out of kindergarten and make believe, let’s feed the poor and starving, let’s put hate and war out of business.

What say you?
*"On the other hand, we have people who are believers who are so completely sold on the literal interpretation of the first book of the Bible that they are rejecting very compelling scientific data about the age of the earth and the relatedness of living beings." Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D.
*The Atheist has the comfort of no fears for an afterlife and lacks any compulsion to blow himself up.
* Science flies to you the moon.... religion flies you into buildings.
* Faith isn’t a virtue; it is the glorification of voluntary ignorance.

No thanks - I don't follow poor understandings of a poorly constructed religion. I'm curious though - why do you speak for God? Why can't I understand God my own way? You seem to preach a lot here so I'm curious.
Did you not chastise me recently for not entering into a proper spirit for debate? If you refuse to even look at a contrary argument, why are you here? To preach your own world view? Not all preaching is about religion, eh?

imho
you do understand GOD in your own way, in fact, there is no other way for you to understand GOD...it is eminently personal. But I have changed my mind about GOD a number of times while I was in my youth, sometimes to my good, sometimes not. You many have noticed I do not tell people how or what to believe (preaching) but I do like to correct misconceptions about Christianity which denigrate it falsely imo.

Why do I speak for GOD?
We are told to teach the gospel so as to find those who are ready and to be part of the process of bringing them to redemption. GOD does not need us to do that but allows us to be involved for our own edification and to strengthen the bond between believers which will extend into the heavenly state.

I am not necessarily writing for the person I'm addressing but the person who is reading and wondering...

Peace, Ted
PCE Theology as I see it...

We had an existence with a free will in Sheol before the creation of the physical universe. Here we chose to be able to become holy or to be eternally evil in YHWH's sight. Then the physical universe was created and all sinners were sent to earth.

This theology debunks the need to base Christianity upon the blasphemy of creating us in Adam's sin.

I think the OP is based on a presumptuous premise: the material world is the sum of reality, and therefore science can explain this totality. Many people believe otherwise.

I don't recall and chastising
Why am I here? To expose your religion for the fraudulent con it is through independent thinking and common sense. Not to entertain silly notions or be told "you're wrong and I'm right and you should think like I do" nonesense that you are espousing
Your opinion is noted as is mine.
I find it amusing that you say you 'speak for God' because you are told to teach the gospel. Do you not see how that's NOT speaking for God but speaking ABOUT god? If not, I would question your MO and how you see yourself as God's representative.
But I suppose that's also chastising right?
