God and Babies

Post by JoeyKnothead »

There's recent discussion of killing babies, and how God may or may not 'preciate such.

For debate:

Who here would kill a baby because a god didn't like it?
I might be Teddy Roosevelt, but I ain't.

Why is killing wrong? who says what is wrong for us is wrong for God? I like to look at it this way: a man plants a garden. He has full rights to do whatever the heck he wants with it, because he planted it. However, if a weed tries to kill one of his plants, he has full right to beat the livin' tar out of that weed. God created us. He has full rights do whatever he wants with us. Other people do not. Get the picture?
The picture I get is of a person who doesn't wish to answer the one question asked in the OP.
Sorry, I guess I accidently posted... I was sorta playin' around, later at night.

In answer to the OP, yes, I would kill a baby if God told me to. However, I would first go to the Vatican and tell them I thought I was going crazy and needed special help. Then I'd pray and ask if that was really God? If I found out it was really Him, I would just go and do it, though probably not before asking why. However, I rather doubt God would do that. The last time he ordered somethin' like that was a few thousand years ago, and at one point He was just testing Abraham and then right at the last moment stopped his hand, or rather, had an angel do it. Crossing God has got to be one of the stupidest things anybody could ever do, regardless of the order.
I am not afraid... I was born to do this.

God does this all the time. Andrea Yates drowned her 5 children because god told her to. History if full of these events.

Do I take it that, therefore, if God ordered you to stab some babies to death, you would?

And therefore the 9/11 terrorists were fully justified in flying those planes into those buildings?

Sometimes people wonder why Atheists are so concerned about religion. This post is an excellent example of why.

As far as I know, the last time the Christian God asked that a baby be stabbed to death was around 3-4000 when God ordered stuff like killin' all the Amalekites. However, this nation was the devil's nation, what with challenging God's chosen peeps an' all. I gotta say my conscience would be slightly reduced if this is what I was stabbin':
