What is the actual protocol and rules after a monarch passes away?
The cancellations of major events, TV Shows, stores like Selfridges etc seems so random, on different days. Does it not mean those who don't close or cancel are made to feel bad? It must be hard for businesses to know what is expected. Certainly the disruption to people and businesses is huge. Do struggling businesses have to suffer even more? Must they pay staff even if closed? Then there are all the tickets to sports events to be reimbursed or postponed - creating huge admin headaches.
I just wonder if such chaos is necessary. It is of course right to close everything on the funeral day. It would have been easier if a clear public period of mourning was announced. Leaving it to each business means confusion.

Can't say you Brits didn't ask for it, insisting on keeping a harmless 96 year-old monarch in place whose only qualification is her linage, but the ensuing events do indeed sound disruptive. However, just think of what we Americans had to put up with; four + years of an incompetent, ego-driven nincompoop who refuses to admit defeat, encouraged an attack on the Nation's Capitol, and stole top secret government documents. If it was possible I'd trade you in a heart beat. So count your blessings, it could be worse.

Placing mortals on a pedastel is idolatry, condemned to do such things in the bible. 1Cor 6:9--It says its unrighteous to do idolatry and those will not enter Gods kingdom( be saved)

Post #4Can't we put mortals on a pedestal simply because we appreciate what they've done for our country, or honor their contribution to humanity?kjw47 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 7:56 pmRose2020 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 5:28 am What is the actual protocol and rules after a monarch passes away?

Mortals dont deserve credit. If God gave them the ability to do whatever they do, God deserves the credit. Its like birthday celebrations. Who deserves the celebration? The created or creator?

Post #6Then let us never applaud anyone for doing anything. No more cheering for a quarterback's touchdown. No more clapping at a live performance by name your favorite singer. No more showing your appreciation for a delicious dinner. No more credit to your young'un for doing better in school this year. No more thanking the doctors for replacing your heart. It's all god's doing.kjw47 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:35 pmMiles wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:33 amCan't we put mortals on a pedestal simply because we appreciate what they've done for our country, or honor their contribution to humanity?kjw47 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 7:56 pmRose2020 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 5:28 am What is the actual protocol and rules after a monarch passes away?

Certain things can be praised, to the glory of God. Most leave God out of those scenarios that is the error.

Post #9In modern birthday celebrations, nobody unironically celebrates a stork. I'm pretty sure there's an apt analogy in there for celebrating gods.
My pronouns are he, him, and his.
