Progress?

Post by elderchild »

Why is it that was once called covetousness was then called greed, then materialism, and today they call convetousness, good management?

Why is that one hundred years ago most had 7 "needs" and 70 wants and today they have 70 "needs" and 700 wants?

Progressive or destructive?

"Behold! these are the wicked, they prosper in the world, they increase in riches!"

It remains as was promised, "evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived!"

"Come Out of her, MY people"!

"Come Out" of this world and it's systems of religion for "the WHOLE world is under the control of the evil one" indeed and Truth.......

Let the suffering begin, for "Love suffers long".......

Father Help! and HE does.......

Truth IS, a lie never was and is not.......

Abide in Truth.......

I think it depends on your perspective. Someone once said that it is remarkable that belief in a benevolent and loving God arose in a world without anaesthetics.

Progress is real. Some things get better, some don't; some things we just get more efficient at. War in the ancient world required you to look a man in the eye when you killed him; today we can do it from 50,000 feet, or from the other side of a continent. On the other hand, 200 years ago, more than half the babies born didn't live to be ten, either, and the average person's life expectancy was about fifty. If you were diabetic, or had any number of other conditions, you just died. Shot or stabbed in the belly? You died slowly and in horrible pain. No antibiotics, either. And if you were black -- well, never mind. You must not be, or you wouldn't question whether there was such a thing as "progress."

Dogmatism didn't do us any favors then, and it won't do us any now. Dogmatists got really good at torturing and killing for their beliefs, but they didn't do much for medical science or for raising the standard of living.

Depends on whether one has received the love of The Truth or a love of this wicked, evil world and their own life in and of it ;-(

Quite obvious that you believe the progressive destruction of Creation(air, water, land, vegetation, creatures) all for the love of money ;-(

And religions lead the way, but you follow ;-(

Simply sad for you ;-(

You are aware that straight-up preaching and proselytizing is not allowed on this forum, right? That you don't get to sit in judgment on the other people here and pronounce them anything? That you're just a member like the rest of us, with no special authority to dictate what is and is not to be believed or thought?

This is a one-line post that is not particularly productive, and as such, against the rules.

In addition, it seems to be a personal comment and also a challenge to a moderator action, both also against the rules.

Any questions or challenges to moderator comments should be made via PM.

Those with a love of the truth will vigorously defend truth. This is done by subjecting everything that claims to be true to the test. It is for the love of the truth that I reject the claims of the Bible. This world might be good or it might be evil, but it is the only world we can be sure of it, and I intend to make the most of the one life in this world that I can know that I have.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
First Epistle to the Church of the Thessalonians
The truth will make you free.
Gospel of John

I'm not quite sure what you hope to accomplish through this, but banishment from the site is what you will accomplish if you continue to break the rules.
We must continually ask ourselves whether victory has become more central to our goals than truth.
