There's recent discussion of killing babies, and how God may or may not 'preciate such.
For debate:
Who here would kill a baby because a god didn't like it?

As I type this, there's been 34 reads of this OP, and not one has come forth to say they'd kill a baby in the name of a god.
Yet some to many will elsewhere defend a god's "right" to kill babies - in the form of having humans do its dirty work.

The only god I know who was interested in killing babies was Moloch. But he has a bad rep. So NO I would not.JoeyKnothead wrote:As I type this, there's been 34 reads of this OP, and not one has come forth to say they'd kill a baby in the name of a god.

MOLOCH
He appears as an old man with ram's horns and a scythe.
Gets a mention in the Old Testament, which is never a good thing. He is accused a sacrificing children and having connections with BAAL and is to be avoided at all costs.

Dogmatism and skepticism are both, in a sense, absolute philosophies; one is certain of knowing, the other of not knowing. What philosophy should dissipate is certainty, whether of knowledge or ignorance.

I disagree with your statement because of several passages in the Bible where God was involved in the killing of babies.ThatGirlAgain wrote:The only god I know who was interested in killing babies was Moloch. Here are some passages below:
Genesis 7:21-22 (In the context of the Great Flood)
21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.
22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.
23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
1 Samuel 15:1-3 --
1 Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the LORD sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the LORD.
2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt.
3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’

Prove there is a god first, until you do, surely we cannot discuss this subject.JoeyKnothead wrote:As I type this, there's been 34 reads of this OP, and not one has come forth to say they'd kill a baby in the name of a god.

When you prove beyond a doubt there is a god I will consider contributing, until then there is nothing to talk about.
End of thread.

From Post 5:
As an atheist, it is my personal contention that no gods exists, leaving the logically drawn conclusion that those who do stuff in a god's name, ain't.
This "prove there's a god" angle would seem more appropriate to put to those who claim there is one, and how it relates to the OP and such.
My intention with presenting the OP is to examine claims and actions and such that have been put forth, whether on this site or "in the world", and I will not stop presenting such just because JehovahsWitness might not wanna join in with us.
Do you deny there's been discussion on this site regarding how God may or not 'preciate folks going around killing babies?JehovahsWitness wrote: Prove there is a god first, until you do, surely we cannot discuss this subject.

Frankly, I don't care if you wanna contribute or not.JehovahsWitness wrote: When you prove beyond a doubt there is a god I will consider contributing, until then there is nothing to talk about.

Wrong, in that here I post, and the thread continues beyond your declaration.JehovahsWitness wrote: End of thread.

Post #7It is hard to believe that an omni-everything creature would not like to eat a few more babies. But it's okay.JoeyKnothead wrote:There's recent discussion of killing babies, and how God may or may not 'preciate such.

Post #8Well................my daughter allowed me to sleep only two hours at a time. For the first two years of her life I was a zombie, but I never considered killing her. I guess she should considered lucky that I was her father and not you know who!!JoeyKnothead wrote:There's recent discussion of killing babies, and how God may or may not 'preciate such.

Joey, there is a rather large difference between God ending a mortal life (when He knows that life continues somewhere else) and humans killing babies.JoeyKnothead wrote:As I type this, there's been 34 reads of this OP, and not one has come forth to say they'd kill a baby in the name of a god.

Stop equivocating. The two are entirely different subjects.
