I just saw a documentary about nuclear weapons that merits our attention. It's called...
Countdown To Zero
http://countdowntozerofilm.com/
You can watch the film on YouTube here:
The film is also available on Netflix, should you have that service.
In coming days I'll be highlighting specific sections of the film for discussion here, please feel free to do the same yourself.
The topic of nuclear weapons can be a fascinating study of human behavior when we focus on these simple facts....
1) The civilization we've spent the last 10,000 years building can be erased in a single afternoon, thus rendering all topics on all forums irrelevant.
2) Not many of us are interested in discussing this except in an occasional casual manner.
More soon....

Have you seen "the fog of war"? It's very good as well. Helped me to realize how close the world came to the bring of nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. I was not born so couldn't experience it myself, but then as the film explains, even the people involved didn't really know.
Best lesson IMO "Rationality will not save us". Krushchev was rational, Kennedy was rational, Castro was rational and yet these three men all held their hands over the button of doom.
Oh and guess how many nuclear weapons have been detonated on earth as of today?

Post #12Cool, thanks for playing along, and I hope you enjoyed the movie, though that is hardly the right word...I watched it. Good eye-opening documentary.
No, I'm sorry, I haven't.Have you seen "the fog of war"? It's very good as well.
Yes, this is very common. Through no fault of their own, younger people tend not to grasp the reality of this challenge. For most the Cuban Missile Crisis happened so long ago, it might as well be the Civil War.Helped me to realize how close the world came to the bring of nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. I was 10 years old living on the east coast of Florida at the time, which makes it more real for me.
Rationality is urging us in the right direction, and we've made some progress. No where near enough progress sadly.Best lesson IMO "Rationality will not save us". Krushchev was rational, Kennedy was rational, Castro was rational and yet these three men all held their hands over the button of doom.
But your point is taken. The next time everybody goes mad, which always happens sooner or later, the big shots may not be able to control what happens.
Hmm... Can't say as I know. Quite a few I'm afraid. Do you know the number?Oh and guess how many nuclear weapons have been detonated on earth as of today?

Don't look it up, try and guess.
It will blow your mind...

Yeah that's around what I would've guessed but no try 2053.
Two thousand and fifty-three? These fools have been playing with them like sandbox toys.
There's a timelapse on youtube of all the tests and the two wartime uses.

There is a much more important topic facing humanity: the fact that God is going to judge the world. You can find out more about this at these sites:Philbert wrote: Thank you for moving the most important topic facing humanity to the rubbish bin.![]()

And why do you consider this a rubbish bin?
His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.
