Daily laugh

Post by FinalEnigma »

Everybody likes to laugh, so I thought I'd amuse myself by starting a thread with the purpose of just posting whatever funny things you come across to brighten others' days just a little bit. So feel free to post away. it can be jokes, pictures, funny stories, anything that makes you laugh.

So I've been house / pet sitting for some friends. On day one, Monday this week, I lost one cat and a quarter bag of weed. Can only assume cat ran off with it.

Round here it got so cold last winter when we tried to talk the words froze and fell to the ground. We had to put them in a frying pan to hold a conversation.

“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Funny as that is, I miss the real masters of satire such as Paul Krassner who could make you believe a preposterous story could be a genuine journalistic scoop right until the last line. The Huff Post piece is Saturday Night Live style satire, intended to be funny from beginning to end. A worthy enough brand of humor. But a 'hot' (*) medium like TV cannot sustain the necessary mood like a 'cool' (*) medium such as print can. (Or radio for that matter. Remember War of the Worlds?) TV has conquered the world and become the paradigm of all media. Funny, that.

* Please don't tell me no one remembers Marshall McLuhan.

As Will Rogers is famously quoted: "I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts."

If it wasn't so tragic it would be funny.
