With God all things are possible?

Post by Divine Insight »

If Christians believe that, "With God all things are possible", then why didn't God just heal Satan from his mental illness the moment God recognized that Satan was mentally ill?

Of course, this question would naturally be meaningless to any Christians who think that Satan is perfectly sane and mentally health. But would that make any sense?

Looking forward to the Christian apologies for this question.

And by the way, proclaiming that God had to allow Satan to have "Free Will" doesn't solve this problem unless you simultaneous argue that Satan's actions and choices are perfectly sane and mentally healthy.

So the question for this thread:

Why didn't God heal Satan the first moment he recognized that Satan was mentally ill?

I'm more convinced that saying is a feel good statement by Christians more than anything else..........

It probably would be more relevant for them to say..

.."with God all things are possible if its within his will"......

.....that way when something doesn't works out they can say it was God's will and get a free pass on the nonevent.

BTW.......how did Satan manage to sin in heaven to be case out to begin with?

It's a hard question to square, and I've heard it told it's because "Satan" wasn't necessarily intended to be a discrete agent. A reference to the forces of oppression and temptation originally, and later personified with a sweet blend of pagan characteristics and domain, some of gods even. Pan comes to mind. Hades. It's been awhile.

It is interesting though. This YHVH character is said to be all knowing and all powerful. So in light of "Satan", the fall, flood, free will, and the ensuing chaos bringing us to present day.... well I have to wonder. Seems to me anyone else would have been fired for gross negligence long ago.

Case out? Satan suffered severe defeat and was thrown to earth, the local prison planet, for his rebellion.

How did he rebel when it is said all things come from GOD's will? GOD's will does not interfer at all with our free will decisions: Acts15:18. This means that HIS sovereign will only changes the evil wills of HIS creation, not their free will.

So of course when Satan became evil, GOD could go against his will since it was not free but enslaved to evil,
PCE Theology as I see it...

We had an existence with a free will in Sheol before the creation of the physical universe. Here we chose to be able to become holy or to be eternally evil in YHWH's sight. Then the physical universe was created and all sinners were sent to earth.

This theology debunks the need to base Christianity upon the blasphemy of creating us in Adam's sin.

What is "evil" in this context Ted?

How could Satan be "evil"? Is evil a sane and mentally healthy state of mind? :-k

If it is, then being "evil" must be a sane and healthy thing to do.

And if it's not, then why didn't God cure this mentally ill Satan?

Don't give me the "Free Will" baloney because that doesn't cut it.

Either being "evil" is a sane and healthy thing to do, or Satan was mentally ill and needed help.

You wouldn't let your child suffer from a mental illness if you could heal them.

So why shouldn't an omnipotent God heal Satan from his mental illness?

Unless you are going to claim that Satan is perfectly sane and healthy of mind.

But then what is "evil"? :-k

You'd need to come up with something new. Free Will cannot be blamed as the culprit for "Evil".

That's absolute nonsense.

Christians have been falling back on this nonsense forever. It's time they own up to the fact that this apology doesn't hold any water.

Tsk tsk. It's amazing how it's conveniently forgotten that the god creature of the Christian faith is all knowing, (which means there can't be free will), in situations where free will is required to absolve the god creature of having a hand in the creation of evil and wrong...

Did you have an argument for those that think Satan was sane?

If God has constraints it is that He has the inability to do anything other than that which accomplishes the highest good. Everyone is pretty much in agreement that forced worship is inferior to its voluntary alternative. Satan simply doesn’t wish to fix his problems and it isn’t mental illness. It’s a willful decision to be arrogant and destructive.

You seem to be under the impression that people who do really bad things are insane. Insanity is a sickness that robs one of their mental agency. That is why the criminally insane are only “punished in that they are institutionalized to keep them away from society. Pol Pot wasn’t insane. He was simply evil and calling him insane removes all his culpability for butchering the people of Cambodia.

Yup – he’s destruction visited upon man is the result of a perfectly sound, wicked mind.

RESPONSE:

A few obvious questions first.

1. Are you claiming that Satan really exists? How do you establish that? Or is it just that the Bible tells you so?

2. Are you beginning with the premise that God "just discovered" that Satan was "mentally ill"? But didn't create his so? God didn't know that for all eternity?

3. Are you telling us that Satan was God's first imperfect creation?

4. How do you establish that Satan is mentally ill anyway?

5. If God created all thing from nothing, doesn't that mean that God created evil too? :-s

So there is free will in heaven and as a result the potential for sin as well.

Theology just doesn't make sense............these ancients who told all these stories never sat down and thought about what they were doing.
