What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #1To be "saved", what are the absolute non-negotiables? What must you absolutely do, believe, trust, say, etc? Jesus died for sins, Jesus is God, Belief in Trinity, Baptism, etc, etc. What cannot be ignored for salvation?

I don't know what you mean by "non-negotiables" or by "salvation".
Ultimately, I believe anyone that will be given the gift of everlasting life, must recognize Jehovah as the true God and the role and position of His son Jesus.
The bible shows that God will destroy the wicked and that those he does not judge as incorrigibly wicked will survive. Some of those will not yet have come to know Jehovah but will be given an opportunity to learn about him.

Re: What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #12No. There is no real Biblical support. Whatever support you think you have is more than likely someone's really bad interpretation. There is no commandment to burn people alive to clean their soul. Seeing how their is no support for an eternal soul in the first place in the Bible. (Ecc 9:5) So if it's reason for doing it is not supported how can there be support? Wrong interpretation of the Bible.ElCodeMonkey wrote:There's actually quite a lot of Biblical support. My book explains all!2timothy316 wrote:Though no Biblical support, during the Middle Ages burning someone alive was said to clean a heretic. If only more Christians believed this wayElijah John wrote:None of the above, just love of God, and love of neighbor is what saves.
And if one has trouble believing, then a person unknowingly loves God BY loving their neighbor..
We still need God to direct us on how to love our neighbor don't we?.

Post #13On the contrary, Jesus himself summarized the essence of the Law the Prophets as being embodied in the two great Laws of Love...love of God, and love of neighbor.2timothy316 wrote:No. There is no real Biblical support. Even Paul says that love "fulfills the law" or some such. An even John says that "whoever loves is born of God", or words to that effect.
My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #14I didn't say anything about there being support for burning people or eternal souls. I said there's support of Elijah John's and my position that the one important thing is to love others.2timothy316 wrote: No. There is no real Biblical support. Re: What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #15It sounded like you understood just fine given your answer. So you, too, believe that one could believe in the Bible as a fable and still be given everlasting life? Or is the Bible truly one of the things one "must" believe for everlasting life?JehovahsWitness wrote: [Replying to post 1 by ElCodeMonkey]

Re: What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #16Oh sorry. I didn't read the post correctly. I thought we were talking about Bible support for burning people. My bad. Yes, indeed there is a lot of Bible support for how to treat our fellow man and women.ElCodeMonkey wrote:I didn't say anything about there being support for burning people or eternal souls. Post #17Of course if you fail to send a tithe to Pat Robertson he will tell you that you failed to love God in the sufficient amount.Elijah John wrote: Even Paul says that love "fulfills the law" or some such. An even John says that "whoever loves is

Re: What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #18No I don't. I do believe there is a possibility that a person with such a belief will be allowed to survive Armageddon, on the condition that God judges that they will humbly recognize their ignorance when properly educated.ElCodeMonkey wrote: you ... believe that one could believe in the Bible as a fable and still be given everlasting life?

Re: What Are Your Christian Non-Negotiables?
Post #20That depends on required for what. People that don't believe in the bible because they are ignorant may not all be killed at Armageddon. The same for those that haven't been given the opportunity to know that Jehovah is the true God or the role of Jesus.ElCodeMonkey wrote: Okay, so one must absolutely believe the Bible is the Word of God? If Jehovah judges that they will repent of their ignorance, then they may be allowed to survive the coming destruction. If they are judged as incorrigibly wicked they will be killed. There is even the possibility that some atheists will not be destroyed because God judges they will be humble enough to repent and conform to his standards.
In the end Jehovah's Witnesses believe it's God that judges.
