Evangelist is trying to raise 54 million dollars

Post by Elijah John »

Evangelist Jesse Duplantis is attempting to raise 54 million dollars for a new private jet. This made the national news.

Apparantly the preacher already has 4 or 5 private jets. Correction, this would be his fourth jet.

The justification? For the Gospel, or course.

For debate:

-Does this kind of thing honor God?

-Does it honor the Gospel?

-Does it honor Christianity?

-Would you donate money to this preacher if you knew it was going to uses like this?

-Is this what Fundamentalist, Evangelical Christianity has come to? Making preachers rich?

-Would this kind of behavior in the name of Jesus, make Jesus happy?

My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

For those Christians who may have been considering (or even have already done so) donating...
What does God need with a [strike]starship[/strike] private jet?

This is just Elijah John creating another semi-sensationalized thread, which has undoubtedly been the trend with him lately. SMH.

Maybe you should go head to head with him on it. And then quit.

This all ties in to my thread, The Deception Theory of Religion. Religion is a scam, and a sham, and a lie, and a con job...

...and people still go for it!

Maybe some people actually like to be fooled.

I think preachers like Duplantis feed into this preception. And this kind of Evangelical nonsense does not represent all religion, nor does it represent all of Christianity.

It is sad that so many are duped by this sales pitch.

What religion doesn't beg for money? It's disgusting how religions dupe people.

I agree with FTK that this is little more than a sensationalized thread.

This is only second time in my life that I have heard a report about a pastor becoming wealthy off donations. It is very uncommon. If we drop that extreme anecdotes and look at the real numbers, despite most pastors having an advanced degree they still earn less than the average American.

The average pastor earns $47,000 a year.

The average income across all jobs in the US is $52,000.

The handful of pastors who have become rich have done so almost exclusively by authoring books.
