Another necessity gone missing

Post by Willum »

Along with works of carpentry, Lazarus, and other physical manifestations of Jesus, one conspicuous item missing is children.

According to the Book of Mary, he had some.

But, he was a man, and there are no rel proscriptions, so where are Jesus' descendants? Are they hidden in an Illuminati plot (lol), or who wouldn't want to give birth to God's grandson?

Or is this just another bit of positive evidence, that God does not exist?

OR ...

...that the "Book of Mary" is wrong and Jesus had no children. In other words one possible explanation for no mention of Jesus children in the bible canon could be that Jesus had no children.
  • To illustrate. Imagine that a man's work colleagues noted that he never EVER seemed to mention having a wife. Let's say the man was in his early thirties. No picture on his desk, no wedding band, no lunchtime phone calls from anyone claiming to be his wife ... nothing... Of course they might naturally conclude that he didn't mention a wife because he had massacred her with a chainsaw and hidden her severed body at in various locations around town. Another possible explanation would be that the man is single and has never had a wife.
Tough call...

Ummm, was Jesus virile or not?
Yes, to be perfect, correct?
The Book of Mary seems as good as the others. I could care less what a counsel of men say...
Anyway, you did not address the topic.

Definition of VIRILE

1 a : having traditionally masculine traits especially to a marked degree
b : characteristic of or associated with men : masculine
2 : having the nature, properties, or qualities of an adult male; specifically : capable of functioning as a male in copulation
3 : energetic, vigorous
4 : masterful, forceful

SOURCE: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/virile
Yes, I personally believe that Jesus, as a perfect human male could indeed have been described as VIRILE. And had he chosen to marry and father children would, I speculate, have been more than capable of physically doing so. However, since there is no mention of Jesus either being married or of him having any children in the gospel canon, I think it is not unreasonable to conclude that he did not choose to do so.

Your reasoning is backwards. Virile people usually do have children. And as for it not being in the Bible, many true things are not in the Bible, in fact MOST true things are not in the Bible.

How in the world would absence of any trace of Jesus descendants possibly be evidence that God does not exist? Jesus? Maybe, but God's existance is not depenent on Jesus.

But I think you touch on an important point. Yes there was no religous prohibition against Jesus having children. Young Jewish men were expected to marry and have children.

And that, along with the convenient disapearance of the ascension are indeed evidence of something. That Jesus did not exist perhaps, that the claimed resurection was symbolic or a mystical event at best, (not physical). Things just do not add up. Something wrong with the picture. Not to mention that Jesus left us no writings to go on.
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

I don’t believe Jesus has children. If he would have had children, I think there is no reason why other Gospels wouldn’t tell it.

He had a mission from God and as determined to do it well. If I would know I die soon, I wouldn’t make children.

But even if he would have, what then? I think it would not be a miracle or a problem. :)

Why is that, Yirimeyahu(Jeremiah) did not marry or have children?

Read the post please. Is it so impossible to read even a short OP before commenting?
The Gospel of Mary says Jesus had children.
You have no reason to discount it, as it was written as a book.

You must ask why it was not distributed with the other books of the Bible.
The answer is, probably, simply, when the decision was made, books were difficult to construct, and distribute, and so on. It was a matter of priority and practicality not truth.

If you can't read a simple post, how can we have any faith in your understanding of the Bible, a much more complicated and difficult work?

Ah, yes, Jesus writings. Those are certainly missing.
Children, who wouldn't be telling every one about who their grandfather was? The Herculoids, real people, though not divine, apparently, certainly did. These are missing.
Lazarus, whose Gospel of Lazarus, telling us about what the after-life was like, definitively, is certainly missing.
Furniture and other works of carpentry by Jesus are not fetching huge prices at auction. Conspicuously not present.

How many more foundationally huge indicators are missing? Things that should simply BE if the story were true?
I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.

You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.

To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight
