ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

What are Theists attempting to accomplish by debating here?
1) to feel good/just in their beliefs
2) to feel better than another by holding their POVs in higher standards than others
3) to win souls for heaven
4) to argue
5) to appease boredom
6) to learn

I think some Theists debate to try to reinforce their beliefs only to find that their god cannot withstand scrutiny.

Post #5You can't bear witness to someone who died over 2000 years ago. How silly is that?tam wrote: To bear witness to the Truth (Christ).

relative to what they believe a personal God expects of them.

If efforts are being made by Theists to show that stories about Jesus are true, they have not achieved the objective (except perhaps among those who are already sheep).

Post #7Sure, but that covers a lot of ground, and does not have to be directed toward non-believers.Zzyzx wrote: .Bear witness: to show that something exists or is true www.merriam-webster.comDivine Insight wrote:You can't bear witness to someone who died over 2000 years ago. This theist, however, is attempting to demonstrate that YHVH is not the monster that His detractors paint him out to be, and that His love transcends the boundaries of the Fundamentalist's exclusionary theology. I attempt to do this by providing contrary Bible verses and perspectives which are often at variance with orthodoxy, and depict a more benevolent Deity than is dreamt of in their theology, or in the atheist's agenda.
The Benevolent and Merciful YHVH is Biblical too.

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #9The fact that you are convinced that souls need to be save from your God's wrath already demands that he's a monster. You don't need any detractors to make him look like a monster when you are already doing a fine job of that yourself.Elijah John wrote:Most likely conversions and the saving of souls. Post #10This reads to me as if hes ok with people believing in other gods. Is that what you meant? If so, isnt that very much at odds with the first commandment? Just wanting to clarify.Elijah John wrote:...His love transcends the boundaries of one's favored theology.
