Question for Debate Are Christians losing or have lost the debate with atheists?
Christianity is shrinking in developed nations including the USA. Creationism has lost almost every court battle it has waged against science. Intelligent Design's true agenda has been publicly exposed. The view that Jesus never existed is growing and more academics admit their doubts. The large majority of scientists are now atheists. The corruption in the Christian church is being exposed online and in the news. Christian apologists are becoming outraged as their arguments are shredded by atheists in online debates.
Think about all that as you answer the question for debate.

Atheists have "Truth" and Science on their side. Religion has superstition on its side.

Aligned against religious / superstitious / supernatural beliefs are advancements in modern knowledge; increasing literacy; and widespread education;
Most Christians do not seem to debate Atheists (though some do here) but stay within their comfort zone with people of similar beliefs " telling each other religious stories. Many actively avoid interaction with non-believers.
Atheists are not inherently better debaters (though it may seem so) than Theists. BUT they have a far stronger debate position " without need to attempt defense of supernatural tales for which no verifiable evidence has been presented.
Christianity is not losing the battle to Atheists " but losing to reality.Jagella wrote: Are Christians losing or have lost the debate with atheists?

Non-Theist
ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

Playing devils advocate for a moment, its not the case that there is one singular debate to be had, and furthermore, some of the claims made in the OP arent quantified relative to their opposing point of view.
For example, we dont know how many people believe Jesus never existed relative to those who believe he did. If the ratio has gone from 1:7 to 1:6, then the nevers are still in a minority. Equally, we have no comparable corruption rates amongst non-religious organisations to make a judgement there.
Im sure the opposing view may refute your argument and offer some variation of the big questions still cant be answered without God. As we cant easily put a value on which debate is more important, perhaps we could explore something like the claim The Christian message has become unimportant/unpopular in recent times and go from there?
Just my two cents. I dont necessarily disagree with the OP.

Re: Are Christians losing or have lost the debate?
Post #5That's correct. In the OP I was using "debate" as an umbrella term covering the various issues commonly debated by Christians and non-Christians.Diagoras wrote:Playing devils advocate for a moment, its not the case that there is one singular debate to be had...
I generally don't cite sources or statistics for what is common knowledge....some of the claims made in the OP arent quantified relative to their opposing point of view.
It's unlikely that that information is available. I do know that almost all real-Jesus apologists complain about the proliferation of mythicism especially the mythicism on the internet. These apologists appear to be threatened by mythicism and its apparent growth....we dont know how many people believe Jesus never existed relative to those who believe he did.
The "corruption rate" for the Christian organizations I've been involved with is 100 percent....we have no comparable corruption rates amongst non-religious organisations to make a judgement there.
I'm still waiting for that. The Christians here tend to ignore my threads and posts. I wonder why.Im sure the opposing view may refute your argument...
Yes, the Bible and Christianity are essentially unimportant in the modern world....perhaps we could explore something like the claim The Christian message has become unimportant/unpopular in recent times and go from there?

I think the world is seductive. Of course, the loudest voice wins and the majority seem right. But this forum demonstrates the opposite.

No, I haven't seen any thread or post that demonstrates what you are asserting.
