God part of evolution?
Post #1Could it be possible that God in the creation of the world used evolution to create all things? And if so would that explain the theories for the earth being billions of years old?

As I see it, it's entirely possible that God used evolution, the big bang, etc, in creating the world. God cannot be restricted by a literal interpretation of Genesis or by the absurd anthropomorphisms many people still cling to.
So my answer is an emphatic yes. Who are we to decide what is possible and what is not possible for God? Who are we to interpret the mind of God?
As for the second question, I'd say yes too. Why would God play games with us by creating "apparent age" as some people absurdly believe? Why would God have created a fictitious past? No one so far has presented a good reason to believe God would have done such a thing.

I agree with Dilettante. The evidence for evolution and for an ancient earth is overwhelming. It therefore makes much more sense for God to have used evolution as part of his creative mechanism, than for him to have created everything just so it looks like it is old. On the other hand, maybe he has a sense of humor that is not revealed in scripture, and he's simply played a good, practical joke on scientists.

I agree with both of you, I just wanted to see if anyone would say no God couldn't have and then prove it.

Post #5Depends on the God you believe in. The God of the bible says it was created in six days.diciple_of_light wrote:Could it be possible that God in the creation of the world used evolution to create all things? And if so would that explain the theories for the earth being billions of years old?
The God of the bible says man was formed from the dust then woman from his rib...Not a process of evolution.
Does the bible teach anything thhat even resembles evolution...no.

Do things really look old...or is this just an interpretation of facts and figures?
How old was Adam when he was created?
Were trees created fully formed..with leaves and seeds?
The apperance of age is a biblicle principle.
When Jesus turned water into wine....the wine looked old.
The loaves and fishes that fed the 5000 had an appearance of age.
Should a star have the apperance of age?

in the story of creation why was man created last, could it be possible he is a latter stage in the evolutionary cycle? YES, NO?

diciple_of_light,
Didn't you ever read the ten commandments? They say the days were 24 hours...everyone knows that.
Secondly the terms evening and morning point to a literal day.
All you can present in a rebuttle is the interpretation of the word YOM...may mean a long time period...but the bible clearly doesn't support this view....unless you are an evo and need it to support that view.

Man is farther in the evolutionary cycle than animals. That is my point, adam might have evolved from the animal created on earlier "days"
