Ordained Online Ministers & Marriage

Post by connermt »

Most anyone in the USA with an internet connection and a few $ can now become a legally ordained minister, no matter if they agree or even preach one particular christian view, with the ability to do many, if not all, the legal activities of any minister (performing a marriage, for example).
How do (or do) christians accept this?
It seems to me if christians are so concerned with whom can GET married, they should be equally, if not more so, concerned with whom is legally ALLOWED to become a minister.
So where are all the christian protests and push to make this illegal?
If the legal marriage of a gay couple can 'destroy the sanctity of marriage', wouldn't the legalization of 'any type of minister' do more damage to the sanctity of their religion than Bill and Tim's marriage would do to the christian concept of marriage?
It seems to be a double standard here.
OR....
is the hate of gay people being hidden behind the mantra of 'protecting marriage'?
Or is there another reason altogether?

Just to point out, there are also churches that will allow you do become a minister online, for FREE. No money involved.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?
