Have you guys considered a feature where users could rate each others' posts?
I see a lot of stuff that I think is just great, and I think the option to click at the bottom and "rate this post" would be a bit of fun for all involved.
Each post could have a one to five - star rating on it, (unless nobody rates it), and a list of "raters" at the bottom, or the option to "see who rated it", so you could see if anyone appreciated the point who you thought might not.
The system could maybe award tokens as well, and there could be an annual winner for "best rated posts".
Watcha think?

It's a possibility.
There is one mod that I found that does this:

If there's enough interest, I can try to install this.

I think that it would be a good idea. Does it prevent double rating from the same user?otseng wrote:It's a possibility.

Follow the links and get the answer:
A User may rate any given Topic or Post only once.
I see that it displays the average rating. It should also display the number of times it has been rated. An average rating of 4.3 for a post that has been rated 400 times could be more valuable than an average rating of 5.0 rated once. They do that at Amazon (among other sites).

And when you mouse over, there is a display with the breakdown.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Not a bad idea.
Here are my thoughts.
1) Like McCulloch I would want it to limit one vote per account.
2) Could it be tied to tokens? In other words, could an automatic deduction of tokens be applied for "voting"? This would make the Tokens have some value and it would also allow more experienced people more votes than newbies.
All in all I like it.

It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

Perhaps it would be wise to take a poll and ask for comments in one or more of the most active sub-forums.
Would that feature be likely to pose problems for admin?
The “rate this post” idea is appealing. It would provide information for posters as well as readers. Feedback systems appear to work well in some circumstances. It is certainly worth a try.undeterred wrote:Have you guys considered a feature where users could rate each others' posts?

Well, I tried to install it. And it had several bugs in the installer. I tried to fix it, but couldn't make it work. So, we're going to have to wait until this mod is out of beta and then I'll try again.otseng wrote:It's a possibility.
