Why the republicans are destined to fail

Post by thomasdixon »

Today the Republican party offers nothing constructive. No new ideas, no positive comments, just attack, attack, attack, while offering no constructive ideas.

The Republican’s will lose the midterms and the General Election because they are following a one liner going nowhere.

I here and now ask any Republican here to wake up, if you have any common sense, this is the time to user it. Wake up, be an American and not a Republicon,

If the Republicans win this time around our experiment in a democratic republic will be doomed.

Lol

"Biden is far left."

That's the kinda thing we should expect when folks move so far to the right they risk falling off the edge of their flat earth.
Apparently, we have abandoned civil discourse and resorted to ad hominem quips. So as to not appear guilty of the same tactics I preface my Biden comment with: "In my opinion..."
And in presenting what is clearly my opinion, I set in on your opinion. That you take my criticism of your opinion as an attack on you personally causes me not the least fret.
I am greatly relieved. Would you like to be associated with flat-earthers? - accused of the same ignorant mentality? Maybe that wouldn't cause you the least fret either, but it was in fact a personal attack and not just my "opinion." Reply if you like and I will read it but I'm finished with this drivel.
Join the line.

Many folks get tired of my 'drivel' upon realizing they can't refute it.

Perhaps it isn't mentioned because Denmark does not consider itself a socialist government.
Well, the US Right sure seems to consider it such. Government-backed health care and higher education? American right-wingers scream, "Socialism!" when that's proposed here, don't they?

That's a Facebook post, not a debate post. Both sides can resort to these kinds of cheap shots but don't we get enough of this already?

A picture's worth a thousand words.

I propose if ya think the shot's so cheap, ya'd do best to explain why, instead of just calling it a "Facebook post".

In America we believe in the separation of church and state. It happens to be in our constitution.

It may be in our constitution, but the Supreme Court recently ruled that a coach had the right to pray while he was doing the job he is paid to do at a public school. Separation of church and state seems to be eroding before our very eyes.

ETA: Pray to the Christian God that is.

Perhaps the graphic was created to represent what its creator hopes will happen. I don't find that it supports the O.P. in any way. No one other than a few of the low-level actors who entered the Capital have been put in jail. I suspect none of the Trumps will ever pay for the crimes they committed. The Republicans seem to still weld a great deal of power. Maybe that will change, but it is far from a done deal at this point.

Most Republicans still support Donald Trump and think he had nothing to do with the insurrection January 6, 2021. To think Trump should not be locked up pending the investigation for an attempted violent overthrow of the country is the intellectual equivalent of believing the Earth is flat. If this kind of brain dead tribal partisanship is not enough to doom the Republican Party, then WE are doomed.
On a happier note, 50% of Americans now call themselves "independents" according to a poll I just heard on CNN. I hope that is true, but I cannot substantiate it with a quick internet search so I'll take it with a grain of cyanide.
:(

Whatever... it strikes me as very sad that after tens of thousands of years of human history, we still seem to gravitate toward tribal/religious affiliations rather than to independent investigation of facts.

Well, you got the first part mostly correct: the predicted 'Red Wave' hasn't changed the balance of the Senate, and any control of the House will be tenuous, given the factions operating within the Republican Party.

The next significant event of course, is the much-teased 'announcement' by Donald Trump on whether he is running for President or not. Judging by some of the reactions of former supporters, it's no longer a certainty that he'll win the Republican nomination. And if he loses, but refuses to concede (perhaps starting up his own 'Trump Party'), then the resulting chaos on that side may very well hand victory to the Democrats.

Interesting times...
