This case would have turned on statutory interpretation - for the plaintiff to have been successful, it would have been necessary for the school to have prohibited the girl from wearing the ring due to its religious nature. Instead, it is more likely the school prohibited her from wearing it due purely to its set dress code. This was probably the same case in regards to Muslim head-dress as well. The law is very clear when it comes to such distinction.
