Comparing Atheists to Terrorists

Basically, the townspeople raised private funds to put a cross on top of the city's water tower. The issue is that it's on city property, which amounts to the city endorsing that religion. If you read all of the mayor's comments, it is obvious that they are endorsing a specific religion.

The comments posted at the bottom of this story were eye opening for me. Atheists are called thugs, told to deal with it and leave if they don't like it. The sad thing is that 5 years ago I would have said the same thing.

I also live in Tennessee and my Christian neighbors have been battling the establishment of a new mosque for a couple of years. My county has had to spend 2 million dollars defending this in court. It appears they are all for freedom of religion, as long it's Christianity. How would they have reacted if their neighboring town had placed a symbol from another religion on their water tower?

I'm going to bring this up with some of my Christian friends and see how they respond.
