I am thinking of becoming a vocal member again.

I am happy to see there are still some good non-theist role models here.

I want to try a few topics I have been thinking of. One at a time of course.
Does God hate humans?
Are chaplains beneficial to the military? (again)
What would America look like if the non-religious left?

Any thoughts or questions before I return to the rest of the forum?

Welcome back. Do post those topics, I'd be interesting in seeing what people think about the first and last one. :)

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Yeah, I'd really like to see the first and last ones. Especially the last one. I've often wondered about that myself.

Welcome back GI. You contributed strong arguments and sound ideas a while back -- I look forward to that continuing anew.

Non-Theist

ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

I have been doing it at a local news paper forum for a while. Nothing as well structured as here. It was also mostly political and only theological when people want to point out that I am an atheist. Politics are always full of appeals to emotion.
