Fox vs. CNN

Post by Elijah John »

I just turned on Fox news and saw Israeli President Netanyahu praising President Trump in glowing terms. The caption on Fox was that President Trump was going to announce a new Middle East peace plan tomorrow. I switched to CNN to see if they were covering the story at all. (in the past, they haven't always done so when there was positive news to report on the president). This time they did, but the caption on CNN was negative. "Trump says he hasn't seen John Bolton's damning book", or words to that effect.

For debate, is this just the latest example of CNN's bias against President Trump? Haven't they been out to get him all along? First "RUSSIA" now "IMPEACHMENT" virtually 24/7?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

However, there are a few traditional news organizations that are generally considered to be reliably nonpartisan by most people from all political persuasions with few exceptions. The Associated Press (AP) is one of them. There are also a couple of "fact checking" services that have well respected reputations for offering nonpartisan constructive criticism such as factcheck.org and mediabiasfactcheck.com. You may also consult the following interactive Media Bias Chart: https://www.adfontesmedia.com/interacti ... 2f03a963ba
I appreciate you posting those sources.

Here's one interesting fact regarding the viewer's trust in the mainstream media:
More Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents trust than distrust most of the 30 outlets in the study, but the reverse is true among Republicans and GOP leaners. And while Democrats’ trust in many of these outlets has remained stable or in some cases increased since 2014, Republicans have become more alienated from some of them, widening an already substantial partisan gap.

We found that CNN is trusted by 70% of self-described liberal Democrats, but only 16% of conservative Republicans – a gap of 54 percentage points. Conversely, Fox News is trusted by 75% of conservative Republicans but only 12% of liberal Democrats – a 63-point gap.

Fox News, for instance, is among the sources in this study trusted by the largest percentage of Americans, with 43% of U.S. adults saying they trust it for political news.
Source: Pew Research Center

This shows the majority of Americans do not trust the mainstream media, since the largest trust percentage is 43%, and that's a percentage for Fox News. But there's another problem.

The stats are consistent with the fact that many people select news media based on what they "want" to hear (news reporting that supports their side) as opposed to listening to just facts which may not always be inline with their pre-existing ideology/thinking . Fox News is overwhelmingly pro-Republican so of course you should expect mostly a Republicans audience. They want to hear news reporting that would support the Republican side. CNN is mostly pro-liberal or Anti-Trump so of course you should expect mostly Democrats to tune into it. I listen to both.

Fox network's FAKE NEWS reports on Seattle:

Fox News Doctored Photos of Seattle Protest Zone: Report

FAKING IT

Fox News reportedly spliced together a photo of an armed man with separate photos of broken shop windows and road barriers to create two misleading images for a report on Seattle’s police-free protest area, called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. The Seattle Times reports Fox had no disclaimers indicating the pictures—taken more than a week apart—had been altered. The network removed them when questions were raised but reportedly replaced them with an image taken before the zone was established.

Fox also removed a photo of a burning city it had put above stories about Seattle; the picture actually showed an earlier protest in Minnesota. President Trump has been in a tizzy about the autonomous zone, claiming anarchists are now in control of the city, while Seattle officials note the zone has been mainly peaceful.

In a statement, Fox News said an editor’s note had been added to three stories saying that a “photo collage” did not clearly delineate between photos of the CHAZ and scenes of “wreckage from recent riots”. The note also admitted that a slideshow of Seattle “mistakenly included a picture from Minneapolis.”

CNN and MSNBC are starting to avoid covering when Trump speaks. For example, Fox News cover most of the Trump Rally in Tulsa. CNN and MSNBC did not tune into it except to replay pre-selected clips that they wanted you to see. Basically, this tells me that CNN and MSNBC are not only biased in terms how they cover events, but also in terms of what they cover.

This is why as an Independent, I can not rely on any one station to get my news. I can't even rely on just the mainstream tv media. I have to resort to online sources, as well. And even then I still question everyone's ideological agenda.
