Life? Life ain't so tough...

This man, Theo Jansen has created life.

Yes, he has, and out of plastic pipes, plastic bottles and ingenuity.

Theo's Strandbeast

The thing uses wind as it's food. Walks around to get it, avoids its predator, water, and able to store "fat" for future energy in the form of air pressure.

It is at least as lifelike as a worm... minus reproduction, of course.

However, given this life is made of plastic, and little else, I think some conceptual allowances can be made.

This breakthrough wasn't done by a god, or even a PhD, but by an artist, however brilliant.

Now, why is it so unreasonable that given the nigh-infinite resources available in nature, and billions of years, that chaos (not randomness) should be able to create a simple form of life, that endures, and part of that enduring is regeneration of damage, which eventually turns to mitosis, and life... becomes intuitive from there.

Well, that's a deal breaker, isn't it?

NOT if you read the rest of the post.
](*,)

If the first life was a non-reproducing worm-like creature, with an indefinite life, it fits the bill, it would have lost the battle due to predation and to other things that could reproduce.

Additionally, many things are born sterile, it could be a throw-back to the necessary mechanics of life-formation.

I'm guessing that he's making a joke that alludes to dating, saying that somebody who will never "reproduce" (put out) is a deal breaker.
Indeed, one could define science as reason’s attempt to compensate for our inability to perceive big numbers... so we have science, to deduce about the gargantuan what we, with our infinitesimal faculties, will never sense. If people fear big numbers, is it any wonder that they fear science as well and turn for solace to the comforting smallness of mysticism?

Oh.
Well.
Ahem.
No.
They can make machines that do that too.

Why is it so unreasonable? Because it doesn't fit the paradigm of those who want control and subservient robots (followers) which it uses for their money.
