This is the only one I come to, to debate religion. I did used to spend a lot of time at Ex-Christian.net, but very rarely now, especially now that I have moved on from lamenting about losing my faith. It's more interesting here because there is more debate. At that site it's more about people agreeing with each other. (Unless there happens to be a Christian there trying to create a mission field for themselves)
Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.
