There is a little girl, named Sally. She needs a kidney transplant or she will die. You are the only compatible donor available.
Should you be forced you to give up one of your kidneys to save her life?
Why or why not?

Re: My Kidney Challenge
Post #2.
What difference does it make that it's a girl who's involved?
what difference does it make that she's little?
What difference does it make that her name is Sally?
Should I be forced you to give up one of my kidneys to save her life? I should not.
Why not? It's my kidney. I like it and I might need it.

Re: My Kidney Challenge
Post #3If you're looking for an objective and/or the correct answer then I'll admit that I'm hopelessly agnostic in these cases. The right thing to do in this case would be relative to a person's goal or moral standard - none of which can be proven to be anything beyond their opinion/socio-cultural conditioning. If the moral or goal is to save the lives of others just as long as it doesn't cause harm to yourself, then a person should give up a kidney. I'd personally do it because that's how I was raised.

Post #4So you argue that a person's bodily autonomy is more important than another person's life, right?Miles wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 7:01 pm .

Re: My Kidney Challenge
Post #8Regardless, you hold that a person has the right to bodily autonomy, correct? We have the right to decide what our bodies are used for.Miles wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 12:26 pmI state, not argue, that I should not be forced to give up one of my kidneys to save her life.Kylie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 4:59 amSo you argue that a person's bodily autonomy is more important than another person's life, right?Miles wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 7:01 pm .

Re: My Kidney Challenge
Post #9My answer is that I don't know the right answer (objectively-speaking). I don't believe in forcing any surgeries on anyone, so no, no one should be forced to give a kidney.
This seems to be some kind of test you're doing. Do you have the correct answers laying around somewhere?

Re: My Kidney Challenge
Post #10I personally hold to the idea that we must have bodily autonomy. We must be able to have the final say in what our bodies are used for. We don't pass laws that everyone MUST be an organ donor, for example. We recognise that a person has the right to say what happens to their body, even after death.AgnosticBoy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 7:20 pmMy answer is that I don't know the right answer (objectively-speaking).
