Can we start by agreeing that killing babies, genocide, and slavery are all immoral? O.K., great, here's my argument:
For most atheists, these things are always wrong.
For many Christians, they are wrong unless God commands them, in which case they are right.
Therefore, for many Christians, immoral things are sometimes right.
It is more moral to oppose wrong all the time than some of the time.
Therefore, most atheists are more moral than many Christians.
Most atheists are more moral than many Christians.

This statement is not tautologous because there are billions of human beings, of which John is but one. "Human" is a set that includes billions of members. "God," on the other hand, is a set that includes only one being. It is not a class, but an individual. Thus, to keep your analogy, the statement would have to read:His Name Is John wrote:
1. John is a human
2. A human is John
The fact is that the statements are not meaningless . . .
1. John is John
2. John is John
Which is tautologous, and hence, meaningless.
I fail to see how your statement avoids the Euthyphro dilemma. Just to refresh you, the Euthyphro dilemma reads:When we speak about God we do so in analogies, the good of this world is a mere shadow compared to the good of God.
Euthyphro Dilemma wrote:1) Is the Good "good" because it is loved by God
OR
2) Does God love the Good because it is "good?"
I'll modify it to include:
3) Is the Good "good" because it is synonymous with God's nature?
If you answer (1), then there is no objective standard of good; "good" is an arbitrary term based upon God's nature. If you answer (2), then good objectively exists independently of God, making God superfluous. If you answer (3), then "good" becomes a meaningless term, simply a synonym for God's nature. In the case of (3), there is no objective standard of good.
I agree, and this is exactly why the statement "God is good" is a meaningless circular tautology. It's the equivalent of saying "oranges are oranges" or "Haven is Haven" -- it's obvious, but it tells us nothing, it has no substance. So saying God is good, and good is God does tell us something, as otherwise we would know less about God.
Saying:
1. Good is God
2. God is good
Is like saying:
1. God is God
2. God is God

Answer: Since the bible promotes these immoral ideals, and since these immoral ideals were practiced by a supporting organization/s which is also claimed to be supported by a god, and even though your statement is not a valid construct for a logical argument, but since this same fallacy in reasoning is the also mainstay of the doctrinal support as it concerns a gods’ will that professes such immoral acts…..I agree.

Apart from we know what is good in the world. We don't (in a way) know what God is truely like. If we know God is the source of all good, then that tells us something about God. It is good to love, to be kind, to be just etc. it serves as a kind of analogy for what God is like.Haven wrote:This statement is not tautologous because there are billions of human beings, of which John is but one. How strange that a member of a group which continually and constantly cries DO NOT JUDGE LEST YOU BE JUDGED ALSO, should turn about and be so critical.
I submit, sir, that you are a hypocrite and a liar. A hypocrite because you deny the crowd you condemn. You deny their creed, you deny their God, and you deny their beliefs, YET YOU CONDEMN. This is the true nature of hypocrisy in that it condemns that which it does not acknowledge.
You are a liar as well, since you broadly commit to one and all charges without substance, without fact and without corroboration. Even if true for the group you'd have to repeat the process for every single Christian; beginning with Christ Himself.

Adolf Hitler: Faith is the Only Basis for Morality
Adolf Hitler: Faith Lifts Us Above the Level of Animal Existence
By helping to lift the human being above the level of mere animal existence, Faith really contributes to consolidate and safeguard its own existence. Taking humanity as it exists to-day and taking into consideration the fact that the religious beliefs which it generally holds and which have been consolidated through our education, so that they serve as moral standards in practical life, if we should now abolish religious teaching and not replace it by anything of equal value the result would be that the foundations of human existence would be seriously shaken.
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Vol. 2 Chapter 1
This human world of ours would be inconceivable without the practical existence of a religious belief. The great masses of a nation are not composed of philosophers. For the masses of the people, especially faith is absolutely the only basis of a moral outlook on life. The various substitutes that have been offered have not shown any results that might warrant us in thinking that they might usefully replace the existing denominations. ...There may be a few hundreds of thousands of superior men who can live wisely and intelligently without depending on the general standards that prevail in everyday life, but the millions of others cannot do so.
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Vol. 1 Chapter 10
Adolf Hitler: Faith is Harder to Shake than Knowledge
Faith is harder to shake than knowledge, love succumbs less to change than respect, hate is more enduring than aversion, and the impetus to the mightiest upheavals on this earth has at all times consisted less in a scientific knowledge dominating the masses than in a fanaticism which inspired them and sometimes in a hysteria which drove them forward.
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf Vol. 1 Chapter 12
Adolf Hitler: Fanaticism of Faith can Move Mountains
All in all, this whole period of winter 1919-20 was a single struggle to strengthen confidence in the victorious might of the young movement and raise it to that fanaticism of faith which can move mountains.
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf Vol. 1 Chapter 12
Answer: It doesn’t end there….Christians LOVE Adolf Hitler/AKA Jesus…..
Easter Sunday Blessing: Nazi Party Rules Germany in God's Name
A state that once again rules in God's name can count not only on our applause but also on enthusiastic and active cooperation from the church. With joy and thanks we see how this new state rejects blasphemy, attacks immorality, promotes discipline and order with a firm hand, demands awe before God, works to keep marriage sacred and our youth spiritually instructed, brings honor back to fathers of families, ensures that love of people and fatherland is no longer mocked, but burns in a thousand hearts. ...We can only plead with our fellow worshipers to do an they can to help these new productive forces in our land reach a complete and unimpeded victory.
Easter Sunday Blessing from Protestant Pastors in Bavaria, April 16, 1933
Cardinal Adolf Bertram: Promoting the Christian Education of the People
[I wish to express my church's] sincere and joyous preparedness to cooperate as best they could with the government now ruling that had set itself that tasks of promoting the Christian education of the people, repelling ungodliness and immorality, developing readiness to make sacrifices for the common good and protecting the rights of the Church.
Cardinal Adolf Bertram, Archbishop of Breslau, letter to Adolf Hitler following the announcement of the Concordat between Nazi Germany and the Vatican, July 22, 1933
Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber: May God Preserve Adolf Hitler
What the old parliament and parties did not accomplish in sixty years, your statesmanlike foresight has achieved in six months. For Germany's prestige in East and West and before the whole world this handshake with the Papacy, the greatest moral power in the history of the world, is a feat of immeasurable blessing. ...May God preserve the Reich Chancellor for our people.
Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber of Bavaria, praising Adolf Hitler for the Concordat, July 24, 1933
Kirchenrat Leutheusser: Christ Comes to Us in the Person of Adolf Hitler
The word "German" is God's Word! Whosoever understands this is released from all theological conflicts. This is German: return home to Germany and leave behind egoism and your feelings of abandonment. ...Christ has come to us through the person of Adolf Hitler. ...Hitler has taken root in us; through his strength, through his honesty, his faith and his idealism we have found our way to paradise.
Kirchenrat Leutheusser, addressing German Christians in Saalfeld, August 30, 1933
Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber: Catholics Should Agree with the Führer
In this way the Catholics will profess again their loyalty to people and Fatherland and their agreement with the farsighted and forceful efforts of the Führer to spare the German people the terror of war and Bolshevism, to secure public order and create work for the unemployed.
Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber of Bavaria, encouraging German Catholics to vote "yes" in the upcoming plebiscite to re-elect Hitler and support his decision to withdraw from the League of Nations, November 10, 1933
Father Senn: Adolf Hitler is the Tool of God
[Adolf Hitler is] the tool of God, called upon to overcome Judaism...
Father Senn, a Catholic priest, writing in a Catholic publication, May 15, 1934
Loyalty Oath: Unconditional Obedience to the Führer
I swear by almighty God this sacred oath: I will render unconditional obedience to the Führer of the German Reich and people, Adolf Hitler, Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht, and, as a brave soldier, I will be ready at any time to stake my life for this oath.
Loyalty Oath sworn by the military following the death of German President Paul von Hindenburg, August 2, 1934
Fulda Bishops' Conference: Clergy Must be Loyal to Church and State
[It is good that Catholic organizations] reject all subversive attitudes and conduct, refrain from any political activity and especially will resolutely repel all attempted approaches of Communism. ...[The clergy should always act] in full loyalty to Church and State.

Many Christians. Read the post. If the shoe doesn't fit, then it doesn't apply to you.OH MY GOD! A moral judgment by an atheist against Christians.
Not an entire group, just all of those who agree that genocide, slavery and infanticide can be moral. Are you in that group? In one fell swoop you've condemned an entire group of people without evidence, without testimony, without consideration for their humanity and without authority.
Godwin's law. You lose.Adolph Hitler and all the petty tyrants of history would be proud of you, sir.
I've never cried that. I believe that's a Christian quote, in any case. How strange that a member of a group which continually and constantly cries DO NOT JUDGE LEST YOU BE JUDGED ALSO, should turn about and be so critical.
This makes no sense. No, that's not what hypocrisy is. Hypocrisy would mean condemning genocide while committing it.I submit, sir, that you are a hypocrite and a liar. A hypocrite because you deny the crowd you condemn. You deny their creed, you deny their God, and you deny their beliefs, YET YOU CONDEMN. This is the true nature of hypocrisy in that it condemns that which it does not acknowledge.
You're having a little trouble with your reading comprehension. "Many" Christians. Not all, many. All of those who do believe those things. You are a liar as well, since you broadly commit to one and all charges without substance, without fact and without corroboration. Even if true for the group you'd have to repeat the process for every single Christian; beginning with Christ Himself.
I dont' know, does He believe it's moral to stab babies to death? If so, then yes, I would. Would you?I'm sure you would be more than willing to condemn the Lord of Hosts as well even though you have no moral, ethical, factual or substance to stand upon.
I don't have such a rule. I have no problem judging people; I think it's a good thing. I do think one should be cautious, and assume the best, but when evil is found, I believe in judging and condemning it.Yes boys and girls there is immorality and hypocrisy here. I submit the greatest part belongs to he who began this thread because HE BREAKS HIS OWN RULE when he judges others. You are jumping to a lot of conclusions here, including sexist ones. You might want to slow down and read only what's written. Good luck.
So, how about you? Genocide, slavery, infanticide: right, or wrong?

If we cannot know what God is like, then how could we possibly know that he is the source of all good? If God is unknowable, then we have no rational reason for holding any beliefs as to him, aside from his mere existence. His Name Is John wrote: Apart from we know what is good in the world. An additional question: how do we know what is good in the world? Isn't "good" simply a statement of preference?

O.K., great, here's my argument:
For most atheists, these things are always wrong.
For many Christians, they are wrong unless God commands them, in which case they are right.
Therefore, for many Christians, immoral things are sometimes right.
It is more moral to oppose wrong all the time than some of the time.
Therefore, most atheists are more moral than many Christians.
I'm sure you would be more than willing to condemn the Lord of Hosts as well even though you have no moral, ethical, factual or substance to stand upon.
Yes boys and girls there is immorality and hypocrisy here. I submit the greatest part belongs to he who began this thread because HE BREAKS HIS OWN RULE when he judges others. By his own standard is he condemned and by his own words is he shown to be in gross error.
Answer: LOL!!!! You mean the Christian, your brother in Christ, your brethren, as related to the Christian Arian Nation Church, Adolf Hitler, AKA Jesus Christ….do you mean that tyrant? WOW, you not only shot yourself in the foot, you had that foot in your mouth it seems…..now that’s entertainment!
richardP; I'm sure you would be more than willing to condemn the Lord of Hosts as well even though you have no moral, ethical, factual or substance to stand upon.
Answer: LOL AGAIN: The bible, 1127 accounts of evil and immoral acts as compared to 112 acts of love, or love having been mentioned or claimed….evidently you’ve never read the bible. Too bad, maybe your bother in Jesus, Adolf Hitler, can help you out here….

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I too see a hypocritical view! Yours!
I quote the Bible to justify morality and you quote Adolph Hitler to deny it.
Whew.
It took only a few minutes for someone to dig up NAZIism to justify their argument. A worthy example for denouncing all that is good and right to be sure.
Why am I not surprised?
My cross is straight up and down, left and right.
Your German version is twisted all the way around, just like your logic.
The joke is that the illogic of it all completely escapes you.
I guess you got me.
Sieg Heil

Why am I not surprised?
Answer: I am, I am very surprised because I can’t understand why anyone would want to share Adolf Hitler’s affiliations…Christianity.
My cross is straight up and down, left and right.

Your German version is twisted all the way around, just like your logic.
Answer: Well now, like I have already stated, I am not a Christian and to be German is not to be a Nazi and this is just another example of Christian Racism, and racists like yourself don’t abide logic much do they?.
