Surely it seems that way. And surely it is, at times. But not always. What's the percentage? Probably more towards the 'innocent perish' than it should be.
But, I wonder: does it seem this way because we see it more? Or has it always been this way and we're now just starting to see it more?
I know people tend to be more negative than positive, which, I think, it (at least partly) a result of the media we're bombarded with constantly. Negativity gets people more riled up than positivity. I guess that's our nature that we have to fight against?

no one including you would have ever known the difference between them.
It would have been all the same to every one.
That would be my ideal world. We would have no reason to hate one another. I would have no reason to be jealous of people who are better than me by virtue of being more good, and no reason to despair that I am not that good.

Instead of trying to be equal to the good people and failing, I could just be me. I could focus on helping people instead of being good.

All are evil but God.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:8 - 10, The Bible. If faith is a gift of God, why didn't God gift all living things with faith? Do whales go to hell because they are not Christian? Do Jains go to hell because they are not Christians even though Jains are pacifists and strict vegetarians? Why should faith in Jesus matter at all?

Also, no living thing has free will. All biological organisms have behaviours which are determined by their genes, environments, nutrients and experiences. We are all prisoners of causality doomed to suffer and die. Why should any organism be sent to hell when they lack free will?

If God is real why didn't God make all living things all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful? That would have prevented all suffering, unfairness and deaths. If we were all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful we would make perfect choices all the time. We would never be harmed and we would never cause harm.

Omniculpability = Omniscience + Omnipotence. If God exists and if God is omniscient and omnipotent, then, God must be held accountable for failing to prevent all suffering, unfairness and deaths. God is not exempt from ethical conduct. Culpability is directly proportional to power. The greater the power, the greater the culpability. Since living and non-living things are neither omniscient nor omnipotent, we are not omniculpable.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
― Epicurus

“Ethics, too, are nothing but reverence for life. This is what gives me the fundamental principle of morality, namely, that good consists in maintaining, promoting, and enhancing life, and that destroying, injuring, and limiting life are evil.” – Albert Schweitzer, “Civilization and Ethics”, 1949.

Please see https://www.evilbible.com and http://skepticsannotatedbible.com According to the Bible, God has harmed many living things. Therefore, God = evil (imaginary or real).
