I just had a real emotional sense of the gulf between us and how hard it is to really listen to other person.

Have you ever (and I haven't) had a conversation with a friend where you cards down openly discussed a topic and we're willing to change your beliefs based upon that conversation?

The result could be the ending of a friendship, or at least the changing.
