Bricklayers and Barristers

Post by 2ndRateMind »

So, it seems that Britain's barristers are threatening to go on 'strike'. It seems that they think the state subsidy to represent all those of us that cannot afford to hire a lawyer out of personal resources, at their current rate, which is the vast majority of us, is too low.

Personally, I admire the competence of professionals. But I cannot see why a professional lawyer deserves more $ than a professional bricklayer.

Do lawyers really deserve the gilt edged life they think themselves entitled to, any more than anyone else? Or should the law be a human right, a social good, accessible to everyone, whatever their income?

Best wishes, 2RM.
