Wer mit Ungeheuern kämpft, mag zusehn, daß er nicht dabei zum Ungeheuer wird. Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein.
"Who fights with monsters wants to be vigilant that he doesn't thereby turn into a monster. And if you look long in an Abyss, the Abyss also looks within you."

No kidding, Nietzsche. No kidding. I think I need to blick at some kittens or something for a while. "Cognitive dissonance," indeed.

You might enjoy listening to Jonathan Pageau on YouTube.

Anyway, death defeats death.
Jesus becomes us to save us.
Jesus becomes sin to defeat sin.

All models this fact of becoming the monster in order to beat it.

As for the abyss, staring into the abyss and seeing it stare back implies God.

Too many people think the abyss is empty because they never look.

Proverbs 18:17 The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.
