'Abou Ben Adhem'.
This poem always greatly moves me, especially when recited at funerals. I have had friends who are atheists, who have had this poem read at their funerals and it affects me deeply every time, because it holds a great truth.
I think because it gets to the essence of how we ought to be, we should love our fellow man. That would solve every problem on this earth! Yet we do not seem able to do it, as a species we are too aggressive. Jesus commanded us that this is the second most important thing, the first being to love God.
I am a Christian, yet I do not dismiss others' beliefs. I think we have so much to learn by listening without judging.
