Post count

Now that we have the token system, I've changed it so that any post (except to the test subforum) will increment your post count.

Here is how the post ranking is set up:
Newbie - 0 posts
Student - 10 posts
Apprentice - 100 posts
Scholar - 250 posts
Sage - 500 posts
Guru - 1000 posts
Prodigy - 2500 posts
Savant - 5000 posts

Yes, that is allowed here. One reason I allow that is that I hate to compose one really long post, then something goes wrong and it all goes ... poof. Also, I find it easier to read posts when they are logically broken up, rather than reading one giant post.

On Americas Debate, multiple consecutive posts are actually not allowed. As long as people don't abuse this loose policy here, I'm allowing it.

Suggestions:
  • 2,000 - prodigy
  • 4,000 - savant
  • 8,000 - genius
  • 16,000 - philosopher
Did you know if you use the sort column on the Member List it sorts the number of posts alphabetically?

After just being informed that I don't meet the standards of those with the same high "status" as those such as you Mc (though we both know I never will), I think that the poster had a point. I am not sure that the number of posts actually reflects the status accurately. If I am debating a Guru, I would expect higher standards than I present. I don't expect to be compared with those who have been debating for a while or those who apply logic more appropriately than myself. However, since I have been, I find that I don't like being judged based on a status. (perhaps I need to give away all my tokens to reduce my status) Though I am not sure how to alter it without completely scrapping the current system and starting over, I do think that the title should reflect the knowledge and experience one gains with time as well as the quality of the posts the title suggests.

What we do for others and the world remains
and is immortal.

It is a heck of a lot easier to count posts (or characters) than it is to weigh the intellectual value of the content.

It is possible to scrap the whole system and rename all the post count titles.

On the other hand, though the post count title doesn't accurately reflect a person's debating skills, it does sorta reflect that person's experience and ability to abide by the rules. It is possible to gain Guru status and be a terrible debater. But most of them usually drop out before then.

Also, I'd have to make 16000 posts before I can become a philosopher?!

Seems to work for me.

I see you at top with 4718 posts, Cathar1950 with 3961 posts, and me with 3377 posts.

Doing the same thing for me, sorting by first number, not entire sequence.

Strange. I tested it with IE, Firefox and Maxthon and it works for me.

For me (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3) I see Scrotum at the top with 992, next Zorro1 and Simon with 98 each then Dilettante with 950.

Same results with IE7 7.0.5700.6CO.

When I click the column "Total posts" to get Image beside the column headings.
