I think this part of the forum is silly......debate should be about truth and authenticity and not popularity......

but we do all want to look good and be liked...human nature.

True, debate is about seeking the truth. And on here, also doing it in a respectful manner.

The attributes that people vote for are debating skills and respect, rather than popularity per se. Though determining the winners for these awards is subjective, I think it does have a level of meaningful feedback on who has these qualities.

Plus, if it was just a popularity contest, I would think the winner would be me. But alas, I've never won an award!

Yes, and notice I did NOT win any tokens for it either! All that hard work trying to be interesting and I get no payoff. You'd think the least I should get is an actual visit from someone interested in meeting me. :roll:
