The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

No he did not. What you say is not supported in scripture, you are wrong.

Do you have anything to say in reply to the above?

Friend you are arguing with God not me. I posted scriptures.

In (Mt.6:10) the kingdom (church) had not yet been established.

The kingdom was however established in (Acts 2:1-4) when the POWER came upon the apostles like (Luke 24:47-49) (Acts 1:5,8) said.

(Acts 2:16,17) confirms what (Joel 2:28) prophesied would happen in (Acts 2:1-4) by saying "THIS IS THAT."(referring to (Acts 2:1-4)
You purified your souls in obeying the truth...being born again. (1Peter 1:22,23)

The Premillennialist foundation is a PERVERTED understanding of (Rev. 20:1-6).

Here a some things (Rev. 20) does not mention.

Christ coming
Establishment of a kingdom
Earthly Regime
Bodily Reigning
Throne of David
Jews being regathered to Palestine

Without these being mentioned in (Rev.20) Premillennialism falls hard on its sword.

Can you say eisegesis?
You purified your souls in obeying the truth...being born again. (1Peter 1:22,23)

Well I'm sure whoever you are refering to can speak for themselves.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I believe Revelation 20 speaks if individuals who will rule as kings with him[Jesus] for the 1,000 years. It is this kingdom* for which Christians have been waiting and praying for for thousands of years. It is the answer to all mankind's problems.

* Gods kingdom is a government

I think I know what that has been and only on that basis have called it Messianic.
Well it's True YHWH has always an will always be the supreme ruler of the universe. Rulership by Jesus and the 144,000 was always only designed as a temporary measure to repair the damaged caused by Satan.

The last chapter returns to the first with JEHOVAH ruling over the earth for all eternity!

Dear JW,

I have a few questions regarding the 144,000.

Who are the 144,000?

Where do they come from?

By what process do you identify the 144,000?

Are JW's the 144,000?

What exactly do the 144,000 do?

I appreciate your simple and clear answers.

Kind regards,
RW

They are spirit-anointed, born again Christians (John 3:5, 14:1, 2)

Revelations won wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:00 am Where do they come from?
From various national groups all over the earth (Rev 14:4b)

Revelations won wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:00 am By what process do you identify the 144,000?
I don't have to identify them as individuals, if they claim to be spirit anointed that is a personal matter between them and God (see Rom 8:16)

Revelations won wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:00 am Are JW's the 144,000?
Not necessarily, some might be but certainly not all. For example, I am one of Jehovahs Witnesses but I am not of that number (John 10:16)

Revelations won wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:00 am What exactly do the 144,000 do?
Presently they worship God as part of his earthly organisation. After they die (if they die faithful to their calling) they will become kingdom rulers in Gods heavenly government (Rev 14:1, 20:6)

What do you mean, "spirit-anointed"? Would you say, for example, it is the same as, or similar to, "born again"?

Yes exactly; two different terms to describe the same group.
  • "Spirit anointed" : having the holy spirit confirm for them they are designated as future kings in Gods kingdom government (Ephesians 1:13, 14)
  • "born again" : taken into a special relationship with God as his adopted spiritual sons and daughters and thus in line to share the same inheritance as his firstborn son, Jesus namely, kingdom authority (Romans 8:15-17)

This same group (144,000) refered to in other ways in scripture depending on what aspect of their role /relationship is being highlighted

  • The bride of Christ
  • Christ's "brothers" - Mat 25:40
  • The little flock
  • Israel of God - Gal 6:16
