Fallen Man

Post by DavidLeon »

What exactly is fallen man? What is sin? Sin is translated from the Hebrew chatath Greek hamartia and means to miss the mark. At Judges 20:16 chata is used with a negative indicating throwers of stones who missed the target. So, you can sin against your boss by not showing up for work on time, you can sin against the law by exceeding the speed limit, you can sin against God by failing to meet his requirements. The later was the case with Adam.

Fallen man existed as can be verified by Genesis 1:26-29; 2:15-17; 3:1-5; 1 Timothy 2:14.

Debate question: If fallen man didn't exist what need is there of a savior?

The short answer is Sin is breaking the law of YHVH. The bible describes what sin is in several places so that we don't have to wonder.
BUt, there is a wide ramge of beliefs on this subject. From the Wiccanpedia.

Which amounted to god inflicting Original Sin on everyone who came after A&E. It wasn't Satan who did the inflicting, but god.
:study: God inflicted sin? Like if you tell your child, do not run out in the street, they run out in the street and get hit by a car, that is us inflicting the natural results of disobeying? Don't do this, it will hurt you?

That is the current teaching among mainstream Christianity. It stands in direct opposition to biblical teaching. Rom. 6.23 the wages, (the benefit incurred) of sin, is death. The soul that sins, it shall die. Eze 18:4, 20 Life is a gift from God. Rom. 6.23 There isn't eternity in heaven and there isn't eternity in hell. Dante teaches that. The Bible does not,

God has a plan for mankind that brings him into the actual family of God, to become as He is.

If so, then why has he not provided everyone on earth with this Get-With-God card? There have been millions upon millions who have never heard of such an option and had to go to Hell after death.

But sin, the idea that we make our own way, choose for ourselves what is acceptable, it separates us from the God who is Holy and requires those in His presence to also be Holy.

So this is your definition of sin then: "the idea that we make our own way, choose for ourselves what is acceptable,"? How very odd.
God's plan is long term. It will eventually provide the entire earth a " Get-With-God card?" He's an Eternal Being and is not constrained by time limits. Death does not bind Him. He kills, and He makes alive. What seems final to us is wholly reparable to God.

By your own definition, sin is missing the mark, so then, it stands to reason, there is a mark to miss, yes? If a person decides to shoot at an entirely different mark, and make the claim that his mark is the one to be aimed for, he may hit HIS target, but, he still will miss the mark, for it is God's mark that must be hit. We can play an excellent game of American football on a soccer field, but, in the end, we'll still lose the game, because we broke all of the rules, and not one thing we did met the requirements for a soccer match.

God set up a way for us to go. We chose to go another way. God has let us go in every other direction we wanted to go in. At the end of it all, everything we've ever done outside of His way, will have proved to only lead to death... in the day that you eat, thereof, in dying, you will die.

According to the Bible, if one is so inclined...
