Son Of God OR Son Of Man?

In the Gospels Jesus calls himself (the) "Son of man" 78 times. He is also referred to as (the) "Son of man" in Acts, Hebrews, and Revelation. Of course Jesus is also called (the) "Son of God", but less than 50 times. So what gives here? Even if he was called (the) "Son of God" 300 times, the fact remains; he called himself (the) "Son of man" an extraordinary number of times. Not "son of woman," which would make perfect sense (although extremely unlikely because of women's lowly status back then), but "son of man," which, in light of his supposed pedigree, makes no sense at all: According to the tale, no man was ever involved in Jesus's conception, so why say there was, both by Jesus and others?

Mark 14:62
"And Jesus said, ‘I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

The word "man" could also be translated "human". So, perhaps it means Jesus is Son of Human?

Dear Miles,

The question you asked is in my observation one that requires deep understanding and a clear and correct understanding of the true corporal nature of God the Father.

The Bible clearly states that we are all spirit children of God, that he is indeed the father of ll sprits. This being the case, then this rises another very important doctrinal question. If God the Father is the father of our spirits, then is there a possibility that we have a mother in heaven also?

Christ learned obedience by the things which he suffered and "being made perfect he became the author of salvation for all mankind".

If we are indeed the spirit children of God, is there any reason that we cannot progress to be like him? Is there any reason we cannot progress to become like christ as joint heirs with him and like wise receive all that Christ received?

One other comment regarding your great questions. Christ identified himself at least 78 times as "the son of man". If we understood this phrase as the son of "man of holiness", then we might come to a deeper understanding of the true corporeal character of God the Father.

Best regards,
RW

Mankind, Miles (Peace to you).

Men and women are both man(kind). Its more PC to say humankind, today, but its the same thing.

He is the Son of God (the firstborn over all creation, see also Proverbs 8:22-31, the literal Son of God, born from God). He is also the Son of Man (He came in the flesh as a man. Moses prophecied about Him, saying that God would raise someone up from among them, and they must listen to everything He says). Daniel 7:13, 14 refers to the one like a Son of Man, and that vision is about Christ; the same one again being described at Rev 1:13-17.

He is both the Son of Man and the Son of God.

Peace again to you,
your servant and a slave of Christ,
tammy

Thank you. Both are reasonable explanations
