What's with all the ruling?

Post by JoeyKnothead »

I note we're in TD&D, with its rules and such.

A representative quote, but not to hold nobody to it...
As Scripture says, the kingdom that is established in heaven extends its rule to the entire planet,
There's also hereabouts, that whole Jehovah's Witnesses and the 144,000 "rulers" deal.

So...
For debate:
If after the return of God / Jesus, and how all the bad folks're swept away, and assumedly only the goodn's remain...

Who's left to need some ruling?

Are we then at world 3.0?
Discovery is finding things that exist.
Invention is using things discovered.

Create that path and engineer a metamorphosis.

Good question, but the bad folk won't be swept away. Many, if not all, will still need to be made to follow the rules. In fact, there will even be heavenly rulers on hand to make sure this happens.

From the JW.org itself:

"What will those who go to heaven do there?

They will serve alongside Jesus as kings and priests for 1,000 years. (Revelation 5:9, 10; 20:6) They will form the “new heavens,” or heavenly government, that will rule over the “new earth,” or earthly society.[/u] Those heavenly rulers will help restore mankind to the righteous conditions that God originally intended.—Isaiah 65:17; 2 Peter 3:13."
source

So it looks like there will plenty of us left back here on earth after the End of the World, and evidently Jesus and his band of 144,000 will really be enforcing god's rules down here on Earth. Like to have sex with another guy? Off with their heads. Kids happen to make fun of god's prophets? Loose the bears so they can rip these snot-nosed youngsters to shreds. Make fun of your father or refuse to obey your mother then expect to have your eyes plucked out by wild birds and eaten by vultures. Curse your father or mother and you'll never see the light of another day. 'Cause we've got your name and Jesus knows where you live.

THE POINT WRIT LARGE: "You will obey our rules from on high or you will suffer the consequences. Why? Because it's what our leader wants and we're the 'heavenly rulers.'" Muahahaha!

Scripturally only 144,000 rule (from heaven) ; the rest of humanity that will be subjects of that rule. The subjects will live on this our planet earth.

This is what Jesus taught his followed to pray for when he said "Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth " you seem the Word "king" in kingdom? Thos refering to a RULERSHIP.

  • So the kingdom will be the new government (144,000 members)
  • The subjects (all those not in government) doing Gods will "on earth"
This is why Jesus said the meek shall in herit the earth. thats when it happens.

No, biblically all the incorrigibly wicked will in fact be killed; not a single one of them will be left alive.

WICKED ALL KILLED OFF
PSALM 37:10

Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were and they will not be there

But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

All of the survivors will have either already been living by Christs standards ( some for many decades) or were ignorant of them but will be happy to conform when given the needed education. The rest will be no trouble because they will all be dead.

* human society

That's a pretty smart question (I'm impressed) and the answer is yes, absolutely.

1 PETER 3

For ... long ago there were heavens and an earth standing firmly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God;+ 6 and that by those means the world of that time suffered destruction when it was flooded with water[1].+ 7 But by the same word the heavens and the earth that now exist [2] are reserved for fire and are being kept until the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly people

I sure preciate the attempt at schooling us.

So if all the wicked are gone...
And only the godly remain...

Who's to be ruled, if they're "righteous" and all the troublemakers're dead?

What sorts of rules're these rulers to enforce?

Maybe there's some confusion over the word "rule". Rules don't just exist to keep trouble makers in check. Take for example the highway code. How comfortable would you be to drive if there were no rules governing which side of the road to drive on?

JoeyKnothead wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 10:57 amWhat sorts of rules're these rulers to enforce?

They are mostly to be found in the teachings of Christ although the bible indicates the changed circumstances will give rise to new scripture. No society can exist without "rules", so even with willing subjects happy to submit will still need directives and instructions.

But if only the righteous remain, who by definition follow the rules, traffic cops become unnecessary.

My point is that if only the righteous remain, they'll follow the rules without coercion or force.

Clear as chocolate milk

I really do preciate the schooling, but it just seems like world / society 3.0 is gonna be a bunch of righteous folks trying to rule em another bunch of righteous folks.

Under such a condition, how can we know who has em more of the righteousness? Sounds like how some Christians say other Christians ain't Christians.

Well it will be JESUS (and his associates) ruling over a world of people judged by God to be righteous. I don't see that as being particularly complicated or difficult to understand.

I'm not sure that that righteousness is divisible and that would not be our concern even if it were. If someone is in the new world it will be understood God has judged them worthy of being there.

I was just using an illustration* to show that rules are necessary for a society to function. Just as we would need to all drive on the same side of the road to avoid harming ourselves or others so, people in the new world will have to know and adhere to rules of conduct established by the global government.

Since people will all be righteous there will be no need for "law enforcement" agents.

*I don't know if we will have cars in the new world
