Post #1Since Romans 6:3 states we are baptized into Christ Jesus' death, what does this mean? When do we resurrect? When we come up out of the water ?

Like many other verses in the Bible this one is easier to understand if you consider the context:
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Because of our union with Christ we are no longer enslaved to the old way of life we followed before we believed in him.

The death of Jesus was followed by his resurrection. Lowering a person into the water in baptism and raising him up is a picture of that process of death and resurrection. True baptism is a baptism into life but the life in entered by dying to the old life.

Salvation and the resurrection of the body come through faith in Christ. Baptism is a way of expressing that faith outwardly. If a person lacks faith and is baptized it will do him no good at all.

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
(1 Corinthians 15:22-26 ESV)

That is what He is saying. Adonai's people should stop doing those things that lead to death, because we should be done with death.dio9 wrote: When does resurrection of the body occur? According to my read of Paul's teaching, we are baptized into Christ's death . How about being baptized into life? Baptize me into life please .

Instead of not doing what leads to death , how about doing the things that lead to life. Paul's is a theology of death if you will . Our God is the God of life and the living. The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob is alive , our God is not god of the dead. Victory over death ought be first note of baptism not the last . Jesus' disciples were baptized into life with him. It was his death that scattered them .
