Jehovah Witnesses And the Purpose Of Living

Post by Miles »

.

As I understand it, JWs don't believe in hell, and they believe that only 144,000 people will end up in heaven. If this is correct,

1. What is the JW's purpose in living, and

2. Lacking consequences, what keeps them from sinning?

I assumed nothing Image and understand everything.

"Jehovah's Witnesses believe that when a person dies, their existence completely stops.

Witnesses believe that Hell (as traditionally portrayed) does not exist. There is no place where sinners are tormented after death - since their existence is over, nothing can be done to them or for them. Witnesses also argue that it would be completely against God's nature to torture humans for eternity.

They believe that when 'the End' finally comes only 144,000 human beings will go to Heaven and rule the Earth from there with Christ - these are known as the anointed.

"People who die pass out of existence. (Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) They do not suffer in a fiery hell of torment.

Heaven. Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and the faithful angels reside in the spirit realm. * (Psalm 103:19-21; Acts 7:55) A relatively small number of people—144,000—will be resurrected to life in heaven"

"Members believe that only Jehovah’s Witnesses will be saved at the end of the world, and of those, only a limited number of the most faithful. Witnesses believe in Heaven, but do not believe in Hell.

Witnesses believe that 144,000 of Jesus’ most faithful followers will be resurrected to rule with Him after the Earth is destroyed. Witnesses believe that most of these spots are already taken, with only about 8,500 remaining. This number declines as deaths occur, so is growing ever smaller."

source

"JW’s believe that when a person dies they completely cease to exist. There is no consciousness at all after death. Therefore, there cannot be a conscious eternal punishment for the “unbelievers”. They teach that hell is something that Satan made up.

JW’s believe that only 144,000, called the “little flock”, will populate Heaven. These 144,000 are what the JW’s say are the truly born-again children of God. "

Yes- "dead" means not alive. I don't speak churchese.
Yes- we believe 144,000, rather than BILLIONS or TRILLIONS are to go to Heaven to rule wiyh Christ.

And you mentioned NOTHING about the meek, the righteous inheriting the Earth forever.

So you were just being Deceptive.
So, what church do you go to?

Good! at least you understand that. Now how about JWs and hell. Do they believe in it or not?
And you mentioned NOTHING about the meek, the righteous inheriting the Earth forever.
Boy, I can't get anything by you at all, not even the irrelevant.
So you were just being Deceptive.
I'm sorry. How did I happen to deceive you?

BTW, aside from trying too take the thread off course, how about trying to answer the two questions in the OP?

1. What is the JW's purpose in living, and

2. Lacking consequences, what keeps them from sinning?

If they aren't too difficult, of course.

Of COURSE we believe in Hell! The biblical hell.
We DON'T believe the perverted Church version.

BRACE YOURSELF!

We ALL go to hell when we die!
Why not tell us what sheol & Hades LITERALLY mean.

(And don't try to say Christians took the RELIGIOUS definition of Hades as 'Hell')

Aside from being unable to answer my questions

1. What is the JW's purpose in living? and
2. Lacking consequences, what keeps them from sinning?

which are evidently too tough for you, don't forget the sources I presented in post 3 that said:

"Witnesses believe that Hell (as traditionally portrayed) does not exist." [Although some do refer to a quite different place as "hell." A convenient little deception. *wink* *wink*]

"People who die pass out of existence. (Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) They do not suffer in a fiery hell of torment."

"Witnesses believe in Heaven, but do not believe in Hell."

"[JWs]teach that hell is something that Satan made up."

Plus a half dozen more. 8-)

"Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in Hell."
source

"GROSS: Is there a hell that everybody else goes to?
SCORAH: No, they don't believe in hell; they just believe that those who are killed in Armageddon will just - they just die, and they have no chance of coming back."
source

"Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in a place called Hell or a realm of eternal torment."
source

" [JWs] do not believe people go to heaven or hell when they die, but, rather, that they are simply asleep in death"
source

"JWs do not believe in eternal punishment in hell but believe that upon death, people simply slip into unconsciousness."
source

" JW's do not believe in Hell, which they say is an idea invented by (Catholic) priests to scare people into doing what they say; rather death is simply nothingness."

Are you JOKING?
I can answer ANY of your questions- by reflex!

"1. What is the JW's purpose in living?"- to carry out the CXommand of our King, and to ENJOY life, as Jehovah intended!
"2. Lacking consequences, what keeps them from sinning?" LOVE for our Lord and our God! What else?

Think we need to live in abject terror of your Sadistic Trio?
